<snip>
"Did Comey win Donald Trump the election?" Hewitt asked Christie.
"I believe that Comey was the single biggest factor in changing the momentum after Access Hollywood and before the election," Christie responded.

Comey publicly said months before the 2016 election that Clinton would not be prosecuted for her handling of classified information while she was secretary of State. However, he wrote a letter just days before Election Day stating the FBI had uncovered new emails.
Though Comey eventually said no new information was found in the emails, Clintons team blamed the letter for her sharp drop in the polls leading up to the election. - The Hill

(27,860 posts)Each time she got a bump in the polls and created a little breathing room (especially after the last debate, and in the weeks immediately prior to the election), there was Comey, raining on the parade. Once her polls dropped, he'd retract - after the damage was done.
When she'd finally built that lead just before the election, and he popped back out of the woodwork with his little bombshell, my heart dropped. I got petrified at that point.

(56,829 posts)the LA Times daily tracking poll had Clinton surging past 50% for the first time to a 51-38% lead. This was an increase over previous days and momentum was on her side.
Then, Jason Chaffetz illegally leaked the Comey letter and the bottom fell out. The LA Times daily tracking poll was suddenly 44-43 Trump.. It went from Clinton +13 to Trump +1 - a 14 point swing in one day!!
While Clinton recovered to get a small lead back, it was never the same those last 10 days or so.
Just imagine that instead of winning the popular vote by 2-3%, she wins it be 13%? Those extra 10 points gets her not only PA, MI and WI, but also FL, GA, NC, AZ, OH and Texas!! An electoral landslide
