They are runnin' GAME on us, plain and simple

The kGOPb wants...no...it...NEEDS the governorship in the Commonwealth of VA that they are running *GAME*

They are trying to get us in a circular firing squad...so everybody goes down.

They are trying to use our moral absolutism against us...so that everybody goes down.

They are trying to sow chaos...so that everybody goes down.

They are preemptively manipulating the narrative...so that everybody goes down.

We were able to overcome all of the Russian shenanigans in the midterms by not letting their noise effect us. To each and every elected official in VA...STAND YOUR FUCKING GROUND.

WE NEED TO STAND TOGETHER....or else everybody goes down.

Blackface is wrong. Plainly. But it will always be something. Someone told an insensitive joke. Someone mocked someone....

We are being made a victim of our own calls for civility and common decency. That's how they are riling up their base by making our calls for human decency a negative. In doing this they put into people's minds that it is better to just do this out in the open rather than be the party that calls out indecency only to have individuals in that party not measure up to that standard.

We are targeted BECAUSE we call for decency even knowing that there are those among us (perhaps all of us) that cannot possibly measure up in all regards. On a broader scope they would ridicule us for calling to make our country a more perfect union because we will undoubtedly have missteps.

Flies in the ointment.

We

won 40 House seats
won 367 state legislative seats
won 23 out of 35 Senate races
flipped six state House
picked up seven governors

elected the most diverse House class in history precisely because women and people of color correctly identified we aren't them. Anything that blurs the distinction hurts our brand.

I don't see politics as the next six months down the road as everyone else does here. I was here during the Bush years when people here literally believed that Karl Rove could control the weather. Seriously. I remember the discussions of hurricane machines and shit. We had to fight Bush with our hair on fire on every front at all times because the future of the republic was at stake.

Now we like Bush more than the Republicans do. Funny world.

Here's the point. I firmly believe that demographics is destiny. And the losses of House seats and statehouses and so forth during the Obama years was more of America adjusting to new demographics. I'm hoping that 2018 was us actually figuring out how to manage and activate our new demography which is very very brown and very very female.

Going to the wall defending two racists and an accused rapist seems very short-sighted considering who our voters actually are. If we lost the state house for two years so be it. I trust we can win it back. Virginia is a weird state electorally anyway.

Funny that.

I have always been right on this by the way. I was a pariah mainly because I'm a jerk. But I thought all the black box voting/Diebold stuff was just nonsense. Republicans were never going to steal elections by rigging voting machines. And if they did, they deserved it, because frankly, that was always OUR thing.

No, Republicans were going to steal elections by making it damn near impossible to vote.

And lo and behold my wife went online in 2016 and was told she couldn't vote because we had moved and she had forgotten to update her registration 30 days before the election.

We're in Texas so it didn't matter much, but it would have mattered in 2018 when my state delegate (a Dem) won by 138 votes.

They only maintained a slim one vote majority due to gerrymandering and a tie vote going to a Retrumplican when their name was pulled out of a hat.

Like Patton knew about Sicily... Virginia is the key for them. VA statehouse goes blue, North Carolina will be next.

Virginia is their southern firewall. They will stop at nothing to hang on to power here.

I don't think they will get Herring. If Northam and Fairfax quit, Herring becomes Governor and picks his second. The republican Speaker is next in line after Herring.

I view what Herring did as youthful indescretion that had no elements of hate in it, even when he wore Brownface to mimic rappers whose music he enjoyed playing.
