From the Twilight Zone department.
While New Jersey Democrats, who control the State House and the Governor's Office, can't seem to get their legalization act together, and in fact have for some reason mixed up medical cannabis reform of the program that criminal chris christie totally ruined with legalization to slow things down to the point were NOTHING is getting done in this arena, a former pubican Speaker of the House is now trying to fix what we can't seem to fix ourselves!
You just can't make this stuff up. There is a ton of money to be made. pubicans are in it for the money. Why aren't we in it if for no other reason than to do what's right?
We're fighting pubican nixon's near 50 year old failed war on drugs that was predicated on eradicating cannabis and now a pubican is going to lobby for legalization? Where are our leaders on this? As usual, too afraid to step outside the box that the pubicans have built but aren't afraid to step out of themselves if the money is right, as always.
LEGALIZE IT ALREADY DEMOCRATS BEFORE THE pubicans TAKE ALL THE CREDIT FOR THIS ONE TOO!

WASHINGTON Proponents of ending the federal ban on marijuana have picked up a powerful ally.
The National Cannabis Roundtable will be spearheaded by former House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, who already is involved in the marijuana business as a member of the board of advisors of Acreage Holdings, one of the nations largest cannabis cultivation, retail and real estate companies.
Boehner will provide advice and serve as honorary chairman of the roundtable.
The states have led on this, Boehner said Friday in a conference call with reporters. The federal government is lagging behind.

LOL
Today, I guess we'd have to say, "Want to smoke a boehner?"

(500 posts)of my life and while I despise this man, he has extensive lobby contacts and will go where the money is without any problem with personal morality as he has none. I will give him one thing...he saw the tide that would bring in Trump and his Russian stooges and got out quick.

(15,981 posts)The move is a stark reversal for the former speaker, who in 2011 wrote a constituent that he was "unalterably opposed to the legalization of marijuana or any other FDA Schedule I drug," adding that "I remain concerned that legalization will result in increased abuse of all varieties of drugs, including alcohol."
Boehner reiterated his opposition to legalization as recently as September 2015.
Spokesperson David Schnittger said Boehner's evolving position has been the result of close study after leaving office.
I have a pretty good idea of why he didn't support it while having the opportunity and advantage to do something about it when he was writing laws against its legalization.
