(51,308 posts)Having some interesting conversations.
Sadly, I did hear two Irish men on the train to Dublin one day speaking in admiration about how everyone was afraid of him. They said that like it was a good thing, sadly.

(47,770 posts)every country has some version of our Trump supporters. In Great Britain it manifested in Brexit. There are xenophobic movements throughout Europe right now that in some ways mirror what we are experiencing. This sort of thing comes and goes in cycles, but this time it was accelerated by the Russians and cyber trolls. I don't think anything could have really prepared us for this, as the process was rather unique, even if the mindless hatred is not. Maybe some members of the intelligence community could have seen what was happening, but most people appear to have been oblivious.
It must be really interesting seeing reactions up close and personal in the UK. I hope you are enjoying your trip.

(12,515 posts)Ever since the slogan emerged, what I have seen is: Make America Great (White) Again
So, to be more accurate, the 2nd hat should read: I Am A Racist Fucking Moron
This Trump movement has nothing to do with improving the nation's so-called greatness. It is 100% about stepping on the necks of Brown and Black people, so don't soften the message. Step away from DU and read some of the right wing website hate. It's real.
