Some of my (unfortunately) right-wing Facebook friends post memes stating "if you lock your doors at night, you believe in a wall" or something similar. What's a good comeback? Of course it won't change anyone's mind but I'll have fun with it. I was thinking something like "I lock my doors against my fellow Americans, not against asylum seekers".

(1,533 posts)White/Black - no shades of gray. It's intellectually lazy, true/false tests are much easier than multiple choice or essay. One has to be comfortable with hypocrisy to have a binary worldview, twisting reality to fit your views, regardless of facts.
Fundamentalists fit right in, as belief that the Babbel is the literal word of gawd preconditions one to hypocrisy.

If there is a wall, will you still lock your doors?
okaawhatever
(9,479 posts)is built shows that you don't lock your doors because there isn't a wall. Of course, if you lock your doors someone can still build a tunnel, same as they do at the border.
A multi-billion dollar safety feature that can be defeated with a shovel won't keep you safe.

(51,090 posts)your house? No? Because you have locks on the door and a wall would not increase your security? Well, we have locks at the border. Those are surveillance, strategically placed fences, border guards, and designated crossing areas. A wall isn't going to increase our security."
Then tell him that if he builds a big steel wall around his house, you'll believe he wants the wall for any reason other than to stick it to the libruls.

(22,976 posts)I've had a couple, and have had to unfriend them. People who still support 45 and Republicans after all that's happened, are dead to me. They don't budge, they're proud of their cult. I don't want anything more to do with them.
I sound like a crank, but I'm really just a friendly, peace-loving liberal dude who's sick to death of all the hypocrisy, lies and treasonous behavior. The very idea of Donald Trump as president of the United States is completely insane-- even more so today than in January 2017. Why should a majority of Americans be forced to put up with this ignorant, hate-filled monster?
