It can't hurt to look at ways to implement an annulment. There is absolutely nothing to lose. If no efforts are made in that direction, it's guaranteed to never happen. Too much is a stake to not at least try.

The House of Representatives impeaches, then the Senate votes to convict or acquit.

That being said, an annulment would be a course of action that could begin to undo some of the enormous damage done by this (mis)administration. However, as there is no mechanism in the Constitution by which to do this, attempting the process would set a dangerous precedent if successful.

Perhaps the best course of action would be to pursue a Constitutional amendment to address the situation in which we find ourselves. The founders made a plan for a corrupt executive, but not for a complicit congress. If trump is found guilty of rigging the election (or paying to have it rigged, or of turning a blind eye to the rigging), the wheels should be set in motion to provide protection for the Republic should this ever happen again.

The days of pardons a la Ford of nixon need to be put firmly behind us, as the current crimes and misdemeanors go to the foundation of the Republic. We must assure that protections are put into place that will never allow this to happen again, and to address the situation should it happen again.

On both occasions when a President was impeached, the Senate voted to acquit. That is what the article says and it is correct.
