(16,897 posts)As ruthless as they are, Manafort rotting n prison for the rest of his wretched is the best place for him. He should have thought about his family as he played with fire with the Russians in the first place.

(7,440 posts)Paulie Walnuts owes Deripaska over ten million but just got all of his assets forfeited. So hes not even safe in prison. Oleg is not happy with Paulie. But then again, Trumpy lifted sanctions on Deripaska and gave him a sweetheart deal worth hundreds of millions. So maybe Paulie will get pardoned and become an anchorman on Fox.
His goose is cooked, no matter what.

(10,252 posts)The truth of karma is just like gravity. It never stops working. The best thing that I could wish for Manafort is that while in prison, he gets his hands on some books about ethics, preferably Buddhist ethics. He's spent his whole life in the service of corrupt people in greedy pursuit of his desire for money. He's lied, cheated, stolen, and god know what else. And now the results of all that effort has born bitter fruit. I honestly feel very sorry for him, because he has wasted his life. And for what?
Be ever mindful of the shortcomings of desire's rewards.

(10,252 posts)We all of us, every single sentient being wants to be happy and not suffer. And yet, here we are in samsara, addicted to samsara, creating more and more and more samsara for ourselves. The Boddhisattva view is to see people like Manafort, as a once in endless lifetime's opportunity to bring a dreadful evil person onto the path of enlightenment and compassion. Every single person. No one gets left behind in samsara. No one.

(11,168 posts)I sincerely hope he does.
the chances are slim and none. But I like to keep an open mind about it. A prison cell is not all that different from a monk's cell. He will probably go to a high risk Fed prison, where he is in solitary 23 hrs a day. Not all that different from a cave high in the mountains, except a lot warmer.
