can anyone explain that voice and speech pattern today??? It was not the demeanor of a normal adult (I know, I know) speaking on a supposedly very serious matter. It had a little sing song quality. It reminded me of psychiatric patients in ER who were off their meds.

(47,770 posts)The sing-songish bit about "then it will go to the 9th circuit...." was very strange indeed, as if he was reading a children's book, but without any real interest.
He gets stranger every day. I can't even begin to imagine what the journalists were thinking.

(9,999 posts)See, I understand how Government works (after someone explained it to him a dozen times so he could memorize it). Also pre-empting how his Declaration will fail. But yes, his whole speech was really strange.

(25,930 posts)He always thinks he's the smartest person in the room. However, if there is any creature in a room smarter than a jellyfish he is definitely not the smartest person there.
He's so remarkably delusional that entire textbooks could probably be written about him.

(47,770 posts)Rather like an obnoxious child who memorized the rules or some routine and is showing his disdain for the whole process.

(12,448 posts)There was a boy in school who talked like that, but it was understandable; he was autistic. Plus, we were in 6th grade.
PatSeg
(47,770 posts)and the main character, an autistic doctor, talks like that.
Hopefully, we'll never become accustomed to this insanity. We need to remain shocked and outraged, even though it is exhausting.

(12,448 posts)I love the way they treat autism, with sensitivity but not in a condescending way. In Shaun Murphy that speech pattern is endearing. But Trump isn't a young, cute doctor; he's a fat, ugly, thuggish conman.

(47,770 posts)It is good that they are showing an autistic man who can live and work on his own. Shaun Murphy's character is a valuable asset to society, unlike that nasty thug in the White House.

(300 posts)Trump rambles often, and tends to bounce from one thought to another with poor connectedness. He is badly focused, cannot sustain well on task, and shows thought derailment. Narcissism is often represented through his frequent bragging about supposed accomplishments while running down other people and their perspectives...

(2,034 posts)I was waiting for somebody to smack him on the side of the head like a malfunctioning monitor. A combo of stress, medication side effects and cognitive decline is ravaging him in front of our eyes. And still the GOP refuses to take the wheel and save itself from the impending fall.

(15,139 posts)under psychiatric care is difficult to understand. The man is seriously mentally ill and the media steadfastly refuses to go there. Politicians with an R after their name ignore it and those with a D dance around it.
If a Democratic President demonstated 1/100th of the mental instability Trump routinely displays, that person would have been forced out long ago.

(4,671 posts)and how much they must utterly despise him in order to allow his obvious mental decline play out on camera, on a global stage. The whole family is just so ... off. It's sad.
But, eff 'em. My empathy only stretches so far.

(15,139 posts)He always looks so sad and awkward. It must be hard having the king of narcissists for a father. Trump appears to take no interest in the boy. I've read that he basically lives with Melania's parents.

(30,787 posts)I think he did it as mockery. He was trying to show how boring it was going to be to go through all those steps and then get what he wants anyway. He was trying to make the process look like a huge waste of time.
Sometimes Chris Rock uses a speech pattern like that in his comedy routines. The difference is that Chris Rock is funny. Trump is pathetic.

Plus I have a golf score I can improve also at tax payer's expense.
