During a "national emergency" and no one is complaining about this? When Pres. Obama took a couple of days to attend his mother's funeral or a well deserved break? They all screamed "you're the president and just can't leave when you want"! I think it was the only time they acknowledge that he was the president! I understand that they need a break from the Washington world, but hey Trump doesn't work but only a few hours of the day!

(9,463 posts)Isn't it an enormous emergency to take (what was likely) an unnecessary vacation time after he "really didn't have to" declare a national emergency? This creature is such an enormous embarrassment to this nation!!

(32,103 posts)but Obama's mother died in 1995, long before he took office. Are you referring to his grandmother, maybe? She died days before he was elected.

and according to the report, paid for it himself. There's plenty to find fault with this man, but we have to make sure we know the whole story.

UPDATED ON: FEBRUARY 13, 2019 / 9:25 PM / CBS NEWS
White House -- President Trump had a $50,000 golf simulator system installed in the White House residence so he can continue practicing his most favorite of all sports, White House sources tell CBS News. A White House official told CBS News Mr. Trump paid for the golf simulator personally and has not yet used it.
"The President replaced the old system that was there. He paid for the new one, including installation, personally. He has not used it since it's been installed," a White House official tells CBS in a statement.
Installed in the last several weeks, the golf simulator game fills an entire room at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, according to a White House aide. It upgrades an older model President Obama had installed.

(23,898 posts)My point was not to criticize something Pres Obama also did, which then allows them to throw it back in our face as a double standard.

(2,319 posts)Our real president, Stephen Miller, is still on the job, though.

(38,458 posts)Evidently trained by another Nazi type named .."Richard Spencer"..Now if this fellow, Miller, is active, and has stayed in there with Trump, loyal and etc. (this is very bad for all of us)
... If this is true, ..a Nazi type..of sorts, trained by another, Richard Spencer, is very close to our current President of the United States. In an article at Wikipedia, I read that the team of Stephen Miller, and Richard Spencer, may have come up with the idea of this...."WALL" (right wing Nazi type, comes up with the WALL?)
Also please note this. Trump has lost a lot of advisors. They leave after a while. Most of them. Why?
Maybe Trump is difficult to work with??? But, Stephen Miller has hung in there, and he is loyal to Trump, and may have Trump's ear....Trump really likes "loyalty" and Miller staying may be the reason Trump is worse now than ever. Stephen Miller, a Nazi type, has Trump's ear, because he loyal and has hung in there to support Trump. The other advisors have left the "team" but Stephen is "loyal." (Trump likes this) As stated in paragraph one, this is not good for the U.S.A....

(2,319 posts)Described by colleagues as maniacally obsessed with immigration but at times lacking in political savvy, Miller's loyalty to Trump is responsible for his longevity and expanded influence as someone who has their hand on Trump's spoken word on nearly ever issue, according to some of Miller's former colleagues.
He's the keeper of the campaign promises Bannon was the keeper of that list and now he's gone, a former White House official told Power Up. He also has a pen on every speech that the president gives. Miller is crafting all of them, which means that he has the last scrub of all of the policy. Its a pretty simple recipe to be honest, the official said of Miller's influence.
Miller's not a very good speechwriter but he has Trump's voice, a second former White House official told us.
Trump is expected to return to the same nativist themes of fear of 'criminal illegal aliens'and economic usurpation in 2020, my colleagues Josh Dawsey and Anne Gearan report, topics Miller is also keen to message. Those inside the White House characterize Miller as an uber-strategist for policy objectives, much like Karl Rove or David Axelrod were in previous West Wings on politics. But Miller's imprint is also reflective of Trump's basic instincts on the core issue of immigration.

(42,777 posts)to Fort Worth or Mar a Luguie is three million $$ he could use on his silly ass wall. Or Northern Calif fire damage, or public health, or making a small one time addition to teachers' paychecks, or dozens of ways he could assist Puerto Rico where they are still a long way from back to normal. But no, that will never happen. golfing comes first.
