Darla Shine, the outspoken wife of White House communications director Bill Shine, has been tweeting about childhood diseases, claiming that illnesses such as measles, mumps and chickenpox “keep you healthy & fight cancer.” Health experts warn that the claim is not true and adds to misinformation that could cause harm.

Darla Shine, who has been known to tweet out stories with anti-vaccination claims, wrote Wednesday on Twitter that “The entire Baby Boom population alive today had the #Measles as kids."

She added: “I had the #Measles #Mumps #ChickenPox as a child and so did every kid I knew — Sadly my kids had #MMR so they will never have the life long natural immunity I have. Come breathe on me!”

Shine’s Twitter account has not been verified, but it notes that she is the wife of Bill Shine, “assistant to #POTUS.” The White House declined to comment about the tweets...........................................................

5. She is an idiot if she thinks she has lifelong immunity.

There is simply no guarantee of that. Does she think she doesn't need a tetanus booster?

I hope she gets shingles so she'll know how devastating chicken pox has been for thousands of other people who had chicken pox as a child, and no available vaccine for shingles until recently.

7. Oh, heck. Let's bring back smallpox while we're at it.

Most people don't realize that by the late 19th century a new strain of smallpox had appeared, known as variola minor. It was far less deadly than the original form, variola major as in it only killed 1%-3% of its victims, and more importantly, didn't scar. Those who got it didn't get as sick as quickly, and so remained mobile meaning this version spread far more that the original. Best of all, if you got it and recovered you had life-long immunity. In fact, it was, because of this new strain, more or less becoming one of the childhood diseases, and had the means of vaccinating against not already been around, it probably would have been seen as such.

So yeah, let's bring back smallpox in the form of variola minor while we're at it.

Oh, oh! Let's also bring back diptheria and polio. You know, cull the herd. Only the strongest and most fit will survive all these diseases. Plague! The Black Death sounds like it would likewise do a lot of culling.

Really, she's not thinking it through.

And anyone who thinks I'm serious, think again.

11. Darla Shine: racist, sexist, conspiracy theorist

Bill Shine, Trump’s new communications director, arrived to the job with a lot of baggage. He left Fox News in 2017, facing lawsuits that accused him of covering up allegations of sexual harassment at the network. He was considered the enforcer for disgraced network chief Roger Ailes ...

Shine’s brand is personal. She began her career as a TV producer at — where else — Fox News. She built a career off her decision to become a stay-at-home-mom and homemaker, writing a 2005 book called “Happy Housewives,” which is described as a “modern-day guide to keeping house, raising kids, and loving life.” The New York Times called it “an ode to female empowerment through 1950s-style domesticity” ...

... Mediate collected a slew of tweets on her now-deleted account, which include a bizarre range of racial and sexist jabs. She targets black people, “Islamic insanity,” black people, Stormy Daniels, and vaccines ...

She .. expressed disgust that people were blaming the Confederate flag instead of “big pharma” after Dylann Roof’s mass shooting at a historically black church in South Carolina in 2015 ...

Shine also responded with a racist meme to defend Trump’s infamous “shithole countries” comment, posting a side-by-side picture that purported to show ancient Rome compared to African huts today ...

People that don’t know what they’ve talking about should STFU. It makes me wonder can they really be this dumb or is there a more sinister angle?

That looked like a character building disease! My uncle spent 14 months in an Iron Lung after he contracted lumbar polio. He was in the last Iron Lung ward at Thomas Jefferson Hospital in Philly. I'm sure they hated to close the place. Since they were fighting cancer and all that.

Meanwhile my generation was vaccinated. Think my Uncle Merrill would have had a far different perspective than Ms. Shine's.
