Looks like the Right's defense of Trump is going to be...

That Cohen lied before, he’s a known liar, so why should anyone believe him now?

They don’t seem to see that he’s going to jail for lying to Congress so why on earth would he want to go lie to them again? It would only get him more jail time. (Not to mention that he has documentation to back up his claims.)

But so far the right wing internet is screaming that it’s all lies. Trump never lied about anything. He never conned anyone. He never cheated anyone. He had no idea that Wikileaks had the stolen emails and that his son was having a meeting with Russians about them.

And that will probably be the winning argument for all of them.

I have already seen that on sports sites. The Cohen threads came to a sudden halt tonight due to no participation from right wingers. Their approach will be exactly as you described -- he lied before so he's lying now. Nothing to see except the media inflating anti-Trump.

However, Cohen obviously anticipated that tactic because his opening sentence deals with not being believed, while emphasizing he brought supporting evidence.

2. Cohen Was Just Doing His Job....

He was Trump's fixer. He was hired to lie. It was in his job description.

So now Trump and the Repugs are going to use that against Cohen - and they're going to call him a liar? Come on now!!!!!

so why would he tell the truth now. They’re trying to play up that Congress and Mueller are stupid to believe him.

8. So When He Lied To Protect Trump .....

That was OK. Trump didn't call him a liar then.

Remember when Trump criticized McCain for being caught - Cohen got caught lying.

Now Cohen is protecting himself an he's telling the truth but is implicating Trump in the process.

Trump has now turned on Cohen and he's calling him a liar.

Trump is still behind Manafort because Manafort is still lying to protect Trump.

Maybe Manafort will wake up soon and realize that he will have to spend the rest of his life behind bars to Trump's benefit.

And when Manafort turns on Trump to maybe try and lessen his sentence - Trump will call Manafort a 'rat' too and turn on him.

Trump’s modus operandi. We do mold our thinking based on information as it comes to light on our side. This is not a given onmtheir side. To them what they want to believe is stronger than any facts.

You give them a precious Out by bestowing benefits of the doubt upon their ignorance regarding their master's true, abhorrent nature.

Please, don't do that, it confuses an effective response to their attempt to hijack this narrative.

Nobody is that ignorant, friend. No one.

Here is the reality, what we face, and how we should rise to meet it:

Every single Republican congressman or woman who replicates and force multiplies this message, that Cohen is lying again, that Trump has never_______, these persons are amoral hostiles, not merely to their democratic counterparts, but to the system of government from which they derive their livings, a constitution they all gave an oath to preserve and protect, and the American people of whom they are intended to be public servants of.

They are not merely yours and my enemies, they are the enemies of *everything*, *everyone*, including their own loved ones who's futures they harass and threaten alongside beasts of the forest, creatures of the sea, the land we walk upon and the very air we draw life from.

These acts taken by them to insulate, to shield Trump, the adversary of all things, is a conscious one. Risk assessments have been executed, and decisions made, their positions on the board are fixed, and their fate is bound to that of Trump's.

It's no small wonder they struggle and scream the most reducilous things imaginable make every effort to be the first voice heard, and they intuit something we are yet to catch up with:

The first to reach the audience, defines the narrative, no matter how false it's projected. Second voices are scarcely heard, and mostly ignored. They target Republican voters and these lies are a lead housing those voters are siloed within, indifferent to counter arguments, retraction, apologies, any of those things, they all fall upon deaf ears.

We must learn to strike sooner, harder, louder with our own counter narrative, made much easier for us bejng grounded in truth and reality. As of right now, we are losing the message war, forced into a sluggish reactionary defense further inhibited by a mainstream media which either directly or through subtle guile, reinforce Republican poison.

We have the handicap, a fierce disadvantage. Don't further that vulnerability by excusing anything on their part as ignorance, where malice is the genuine motive.

Let's all endeavor to shrink their damn bubble.......

11. People can all relate to someone like trump and Cohen
Wed Feb 27, 2019, 07:28 AM

We've all been forced to do something at work we'd rather not do (not the masters of the universe like trump, those of us who actually worked for a living) and we've been forced to lie on occasion. Over the years I know this to be true for me.

Cohen needs to keep his cool under fire and counter punch with the truth. That will hurt them the most.

We have all had the tyrannical, lying boss. trump and his co-traitors are going to come out of this looking like those tyrannical liars we have all known and worked for - and unfortunately came to know all too well.

when you modify reality to fit in with the prevailing ethos of the company you work for.

. . . but in the light of day, two things come out. You lied, and the company you worked for has a toxic ethos and work environment.

Cohen is out of that toxic influence now, he can see it clearly. With supporting evidence, what he brings forth will be believed.

So they're weak claims he's a liar isn't going to work this time to well for them. All of the people in this administration are liars , that doesn't mean they can't tell the truth. Just look at how many lies trump has told so far to cover up his crimes with. HE can't testify before them or Mueller and won't because he can't tell the truth , or he'd implicate himself in many, many crimes, and that's why he won't under oath stand before Congress or Mueller under oath, but he sure likes to attack others who do and tell the truth against him.
