(15,567 posts)I have tears in my eyes. I feel Cohen's tear are real too. He seems to really care about his family and the story about daughters really touched him. He was trying desperately to hold it together.

(464 posts)The pain and remorse was evident. That's a nasty hurt -- knowing you've done something you can never un-do, and feeling every sting of remorse and shame about having done it. And in his case, going through it with the eyes of the whole world on you. Takes my breath away. And now he's going to prison.
I wish every teenager could watch this clip, and understand how totally you can screw up your life by going down the wrong path, and how bad it can hurt.

(4,292 posts)I was working at home today, which gave me the opportunity to watch the CSPAN coverage of the entire session.
After the first couple of Repukes' displays of posturing and painfully-obvious obsequience to their lord-and-master (Individual-1), I decided to mute their juvenile performances.
From start to finish, Chairman Cummings maintained order and ensured that the witness's testimony got onto the public record.
Well done, sir!

(37,648 posts)What a difference from the Republican so-called hearings. Cummings was fair to all, polite, moved things along, but decisive and let Cohen finish answers, and shut down Republican fillibustering a few times.

(869 posts)Elijah Commings really showed himself superbly. I was very, very impressed by him.
And yes, Cohen's tears were real.

(2,075 posts)And maybe even Representative Cummings himself, considering that he was named after the biblical prophet Elijah. At the very least, it seems like he was a preacher's son - and maybe he's also a preacher himself.
