It will hurt Trump in several ways, not the least of which is giving more credence to the criminal aspects of the Mueller report.
It will give the Dems a win, even if it fails in the Senate (where it might actually NOT fail).
It will mollify somewhat some of the more strident impeachment hawks.
It will make great TV.
Most of all, in this case, impeachment IS the right thing to do.

(15,307 posts)An indirect attack that Pelosi et al can get behind. Barr clearly lied to Congress (VanHollen in the Senate and Christ in the House), a much easier charge to prove and prosecute.

show it off to the people.
remind them how it works.
and, oh yeah, get ahold of a lot of the same evidence that will sink spanky.

(11,156 posts)Barr perjured himself before Congress. That ought to draw the necessary GOP votes in the Senate.

As for the House, that remains to be seen.

(15,307 posts)Dems could probably learn a lot, too.
I think there are GOP senators like Toomey, who always has his finger to the wind, and ones in re-election battles like Gardener, McSally, Tillis, Collins and self-righteous ones like Romney and "independent" thinkers like Sasse who just might vote to impeach Barr.
