Why did anybody ever trust William P. Barr?
The revelation that President Trumps attorney general is exactly what President Trump always wanted in an attorney general appears to have rocked Washington. Barr has ruined his reputation, commentators are crying. Hes acting like the commander in chiefs defense counsel, not the countrys lawyer. Its disgraceful. Its embarrassing ...
The inexplicably stubborn illusion only faded, finally, after an appalling news conference, followed by the long-awaited publication of 400-some pages that contradicted the core of what Barr had been telling the country for weeks, followed by the revelation that Barr had misled legislators about Muellers discontent ...
... People wanted to believe Barr because they wanted to believe something a lot bigger than him: that President Trump is the rot in our house not that he has only pulled back the floorboards.

Defund the DOJ until they come to their senses.
PS...trumps not entitled to have every prosecutor/ G Man, be a repub. That's not how America works. The military already inculcates every tom dick and harriet as repubs, that's not what 2/3s of America pays for. And when a Dem family parts w one of their kids for a term of service, they don't do so so they'll come back a spitting republican. Not how it works. Even if he bloviates about the 18 "Angry Dems" everyday or not.

Denial? Delusional? Complicit in a false narrative?
Please. No one with a clear memory trusted Barr. No one with the inability to claim shit smells like roses believed Barr. No one who saw conservatives for exactly what they are believed Barr. No one who refuses to accept a shared narrative of feel-good bullshit trusted Barr.

(118,379 posts)who will say they believe (whether they do or not), in part of low-attention-span nitwits who can't bear to learn anything that contradicts their own preconceptions, in part careful players who always (at first ) profess faith in the goodness of everyone but are later "Shocked! Shocked!" to find gambling occurs, and in part various other sectors -- such as the cynics who said "Of course I trust Barr!" with perhaps only the slightest trace of cold acid in their voices to clue-in the cognoscenti
