Ok, that was unexpected: Prince Harry & Meghan name son Archie Harrison

(Full Name: Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor)
Note: All of Queen Elizabeth's descendants take the family name Mountbatten-Windsor -- which is a combination of the Queen's official last name, and Prince Phillips' surname.

Archie? 'Don't' think that was on anyone's betting list.

LONDON — Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, gave the world a first look Wednesday at their son and, after introducing him to the queen, announced his name: Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Winsdor.

Royals tend to pick traditional names for their offspring. And so it was no surprise that before the announcement, bookies said that the favorite names for Baby Sussex were Spencer, Alexander, James, Philip, Arthur and Albert.

Prince Harry’s name isn’t actually Harry, by the way. It’s Henry Charles Albert David.

Sadly for fans of “Suits,” the legal tv drama that Meghan starred in for seven seasons, “Harvey” or “Specter” weren’t seen to be in contention.

Could be named after a loved one the public doesn’t know about, or a long list of other possibilities, but given the sort of hate-filled, blatant racism they’ve had to deal with since day one of their relationship announcement (see comments on any article about them on DailyMailOnline), I suspect the LAST thing they’re doing is “trying too hard.”

Prince Charles was extremely close to Lord Mountbatten, who was Prince Philip's uncle, and killed in an IRA attack (if IIRC). I'm sure Charles is pleased about this nod.

From the Daily Beast: "Archie is not officially a prince, and therefore will not be called “His Royal Highness.” Instead, he is expected to be given the title of the Earl of Dumbarton. Prince Harry was given the Dumbarton title—which refers to a Scottish town to the west of Glasgow—by the queen on the morning of his wedding. As the son of a duke, the new baby is allowed to use one of his father’s lesser titles as a courtesy title. He will one day inherit the Duke of Sussex title from his father.

The baby could be made a prince, but only if the queen intervenes. The queen stepped in to make his cousins George, Charlotte, and Louis, princes and princesses, since they are the children of a future king."

Here and other places (other places are American racists making fun of it). It's a very popular British name.

"Harrison" may be one of Harry's mates who died in Iraq, because it isn't a family name for either of them.

Love they didn't go the GeogeHenryWilliamLouis route.
