Washington ranked as top state, Louisiana, Alabama last in US news rankings

A new U.S. News and World Report ranking published Tuesday ... determined that Washington, New Hampshire and Minnesota are the best states while Mississippi, Alabama and Louisiana are the worst.

The list factored in states' health care, education, economy, infrastructure, public safety, opportunity and the fiscal stability of its state government, among other factors.

Washington did not rank best among any of the factors evaluated, with Hawaii having the best health care and Massachusetts having the best education, but had consistently high rankings in several factors.

Mississippi, ranked 48th overall was determined to have the worst healthcare and Alabama, ranked 49th was determined to have the worst education system .

And Oregon ranked 30th. Forgive me if I don’t take anything they say seriously.

Oregon’s is 42.

Rhode Island has 40 miles of congested coastline.

Oregon has 363 miles of mostly unpopulated, pristine and public shore.

Rhode Island’s highest elevation is 812 feet.

Oregon tops out at 11,249 in a spectacular mountain range that runs nearly it’s full length.

Rhode Island has 393,000 acres of forest while Oregon has 28,836,000.

Umpqua National Forest is larger than the entire state of Rhode Island and it’s only one of twelve in Oregon.

I could go on and on, but to say Rhode Island has a better “Natural Environment” than Oregon is farcical.
