Texas police officer shot and killed a woman during arrest attempt
(CNN) A shaky cell phone video captured the moments before a Texas police officer shot and killed a woman who claimed she was pregnant.
Now people on social media are divided over whether the shooting was justified.
The officer was patrolling an apartment complex in the Houston suburb of Baytown late Monday when he saw a woman he knew from previous encounters, Baytown police said.
A family member identified the woman as Pamela Shantay Turner. In a text message Tuesday, police Lt. Steve Dorris said Turner was not pregnant.

There was a lot of discussion about the officer who shot the teen with a knife. In the case the woman the officer was attempting to arrest got control of his taser, an item that was suggested to be used in the other case. Do people think shooting was justified in this case?

(7,711 posts)1. I saw the video and I thing the officer should be charged with murder. It will be interesting to
see how Art Acevedo handles it. He had a decent rep in Austin.....we shall see.

The video, I can't stream at work so only have the text of the article to go by but allow me to be the devil's advocate for a moment.
What the the officer do wrong? How could he have avoided using deadly force in this incident?

This story is red meat for the Master Baiters here in TX who touch are themselves in the belief it will cause a division among progressives/Democrats.
I imagine killing her was not the only valid option available... but it does seem to be the go-to option far too many times these days.
