I recently had to deal with a temp worker who was an outspoken anti-choice RWNJ. It was all I could do to restrain myself from speaking out, potentially losing my job in the mix.
It was so upsetting to me to recall the horrific 1970's arguments that finally resulted in common sense Roe legislation, thank heaven:
the horrors of what the coathanger, and even more horrifying abandonment and infanticide scenarios that the anti-choice nutjobs represent.
The RWNJ's contract was not extended. I have little doubt why.

This school secretary and I had chatted happily for several years. She usually took her break whenever I, a frequent sub, did so. One day, she said someone was "pro abortion." I simply said "no one is pro abortion; they're just pro choice." That's ALL it took. She avoided me from then on, and pointed never talked to me again. Just.....wow.

Women's rights are human rights. Period!

Btw, sometimes abortion is an easy decision. It's just not the case that it is always a gut-wrenching decision.

If a pregnant woman in a state with these laws certifies in court she is not prepared to carry and/or raise the child, then post-birth DNA tests would identify the father and he would be forced to financially support the woman and the child for the remainder of their lives, or else spend many years in prison.

Reasoning this out a bit more, I suspect the core doctrines of most religions would support that notion......

People know what they need, and in many cases abortion is indeed an easy decision. Disclaimers about how it's not "fun" elides the fact that the vast majority of abortions -- the ones performed in the first trimester -- are simple and routine. We don't need to pain pictures of people with heavy, regretful hearts. People don't want to be pregnant. Abortion fits the bill.

...even in the first trimester. But while I agree with you, easy and cheap contraception (pill for men too) with conscious and deliberate conception when decided by both partners, seems to be what to aim for.
Still women should be guaranteed the right to choose no matter what.
