That's one of about 100 questions Mueller needs to answer. Gates and Flynn are still cooperating. Stone has not gone on trial yet. Why didn't he try and turn Stone? Why didn't he indict people who lied to him?
Why didn't he subpoena Trump? What about wiki-leaks?
Mueller needs to get his fucking ass in front of congress and tell us what the fuck is going.

(23,002 posts)They want us to forget about him. Rosenstien appointed Mueller, (I think), more and more, that is very worrisome. We are almost to June 2019. The damage and sabotage this russian admin has done to our system, is more damaging than a frontal attack. Trump thinks between having a national emergency "on the Southern Border", and being at war, will make him absolutely bullet-proof from any further legal problems.
War w Iran? No no no. Iraq will look like a bar fight in comparison. No offense to Iraq vets. How are we going to pay for this war? Isn't that the first thing the gop says when we want anything from our govt? Where's the pay-for?

Supposedly, Mueller is still going to go before Congress. They're just negotiating with him as to when, whatever that means.

(54,770 posts)If you think he's a hero, fine. I don't.
If he was forced to wind it up before he was really finished, he should have gone straight to the press.

Going straight to the press would have discredited him and the process.
Worse, such a move would ensure the reports findings and evidence would be inadmissible in any case stemming from them. A Mueller press conference would be the best way to getting a case thrown out or seeing its defendant be acquitted.
This was not a Mueller vs. Trump investigation, but one carried out under DOJ. In fact, if there ever is a case it will not be called Mueller vs. Trump, but U. S. vs. Trump. Barr was the spinner in the works.
In one regard, Mueller's service qualified him as a hero, literally, which is perhaps what you pick up in discussions around him.

What service qualified him as a hero? Joining the military? Not in my book, killing innocent Asians doesn't qualify as a hero (unless one was drafted or joined up to avoid the draft), if that is what you mean.
Now, John Kerry who came home and spoke up about what we were doing in Vietnam and carried that on as Secretary of State -- that's a Hero.

(3,787 posts)What I don't understand is why Barr even asked for the report. Maybe he figured it would be too obvious if he told Mueller, "You're done, and don't bother turning in the report." Or maybe he thought he could redact it and spin it in pre-release press conferences to the point that he could make it worthless anyway.
It should be obvious to any observer that Barr is clearly engaged in a massive cover-up. So if you start from that premise, your questions pretty much answer themselves.
The question that I have is: where is the counterintelligence report? It's required by law to be given separately.

(56,829 posts)Barr was confirmed on February 14 (a Thursday) and Mueller turned in his report a little over a month later. The timeline works - give Barr a few days to settle in and get oriented, and then you have the weekend. Then, he makes the call to Mueller to tell him to wrap things up and get him a report in 30 days.
My guess is that Barr couldn't find a loophole in the SCO regulations that would allow him to stop production of a report by Mueller.

(8,144 posts)lay the case out before all the people, most of whom still have no comprehensive understanding about Muellers findings and what those mean, really.
To rush this one shot at the king, would leave the public out of the loop, ensure congress does not convict, and ultimately hand Trump a victory.
Without first exhausting subpoena powers, hearing what witnesses they can, they would lessen their chances in court to expedite efforts to get favorable rulings to help them impeach.
They want to walk the American people through a graphic enactment of the report highlights and possibly uncover more leads.
Otherwise, many will view the House as overreaching and divisive.
Let Americans participate in the process and run proceedings up to the election.

(32,814 posts)rat theory. He didn't indict Jr. Didn't indict trump. Wanted to give Flynn a pass (thank God the normally right wing loony judge said HELL NO). Papadapa-whatever got 2 weeks. The whole thing was an extended slap on the wrist. A joke! Until this man finally steps up and explains wtf he did and why, I'll put him in the same pile as Rosenstein, Barr, and the rest.
