(135,958 posts)They are used to being treated w fear and respect from their workers. This 'feeling' they get, when Eliz Warren sinks her teeth in, is foreign by design. Their design.

(2,700 posts)but I totally love this woman. She doesn't fool around when confronting the lies and immorality of the big shots in corporation-land or their paid-for servants in politics. Her emphatic "Good," was the best thing I've heard from a Democrat in months, maybe years!
In fact, I think back to the gaggle of true losers the GOP put up for its nomination in 2016 and compare them to our candidates and cannot believe the Dems are a minority party. We have the brains, the integrity, the patriotism that the GOP threw away years ago.
Damned straight I'd vote for her! Of course I would. Who wouldn't? She's told Fox to go to hell while stumping in Trump's power areas and winning over the crowds. It's clear that her genuine and honest message of support for the regular people, the working folks, teachers, miners, farmers, civil servants, and the rest, is convincing a lot of people that she's on their side and will work for them if elected to the WH. At the same time, she's able to point out to those among them who voted for Trump that Trump has lied to consistently about giving a pig's fart about them and their welfare. Go, Liz!
Right know it looks like Uncle Joe has the inside track. And I'll vote for him if he gets the nod, of course I will, and with very few misgivings. But you have to remember that, at about this time, back in 2007, Hillary was way out in front of Obama. So one never knows; Tides turn, things change.
Funny, though, how it looks like Trump and his traitorous sycophants are focusing on bringing down Joe -- as if Trump could beat any of the other candidates. If Joe secures the nomination, of course I'll vote for him, and gladly. But it's early, yet, and Elizabeth is chipping away.

(259 posts)They're not cretins, per se (although that's certainly an element), they're not ideologues, they're not religious people, they're not for freedom, they're not for for protecting unborn lives, they're not for (fill in the blank). They're criminals and their motive is stealing the wealth of others. Period.

(54,527 posts)EXCERPTS FROM THE OFFICIAL DICTIONARY OF REPUBLICANESE
In Republicanese, many words that sound alike may be spelled differently at random. A few prominent examples:
In Republicanese, the following words may be spelled at random using any of the three ways given:
A.) Two, Too, To
B.) Their, They're, There
c.) Your, Yore, You're
The Republicanese version of Robin Hood therefore starts with "In days of you're...."
The only rule is that the correct use of them as in English is never permitted twice in a row.
Words with single letters that change meaning when that letter is doubled must never be used in correct English context. The classic example is lose vs. loose. In Republicanese, if you do not win an election, then you loose that election. Conversely, if your (Republicanese: youre) belt is too tight, you need it more lose in order to be comfortable. Another example would be the Republicanese, I met Donald Trump, and he was rudder than I imagined, vs. I grabbed the ruder and was able to steer the boat to shore.
In Republicanese, an apostrophe is used to form a plural, but it must be done at random, never systematically. For example, Bill and Hillary are "the Clinton's," but Bill, Chelsea and Hillary are "the Clintons." The other way around is also correct. In Republicanese, either form is correct as long as it is not spelled the same way twice in a row

(82,849 posts)This is the area of expertise Senator Professor Warren made her bones on, and she knows bank oversight backwards and forwards. It was Warren who told the whiny "too big to fail" bankers that the new regulations weren't just supposed to protect consumers, they were meant to break those banks into pieces.
You're not going to get a sympathetic hearing from Warren when it comes to your own laxness and incompetence, Mr. Otting.
Corporate American CEOs and Shareholders think bc they have developed some legal construct to do business, that they get to be treated w some other level of fealty. Or are immune from criminal charges bc the corporation shields them.
"We create the jobs." They say, but, get ENORMOUS tax breaks from local municipaliites to set-up and run. Little investment in workers and their standard of living. By and large.
Then close down, when the profits are squeezed out of everything, and they have workers who've set up camp and are now relying on those jobs. No loyalty to American Workers. Glad EW slaps these people down.

Glad Mrs Warren speaks truth to power. Makes me feel brave in my daily life. Stupid as that may sound. Empowerment is infectious.

(1,640 posts)Alas, you just know that someone will criticize Warren for being, "unwomanly", "shrill", or some other adjective that will diminish her strength and intelligence and determination.
That's because when the words, "strength, intelligence and determination" are mentioned the default image that they conjure up is male.
