Hey ladies who are feeling trapped in an impossible situation in Texas/Alabama/ Missouri/Ohio/Georgia/whatever new state has decided you shouldn't have autonomy over your own body,
if you need to visit your Auntie/Cousin/Sister/BFF, you just DM me.
No judgement.
No questions.
I'll be here, pick you up from the airport/train/bus, hold your hand, help with "reservations", take you where you need to go, give you a peaceful place to escape.
We'll take some selfies at the monuments, go to the zoo, chill out by a campfire, check some cool art. You know, for your social media for those new state border checks just to prove you're all good.
And you will be all good.
Let's face it. It's been too long since we've seen each other. 😉

(90,803 posts)those traveling for medical care.
Need more people though.
The need has been there because of clinics closing and all the stupid little hits by states that make getting medical care harder.
The need will only grow if the haters have their way.

(81,612 posts)These bastards are always defying what they think are restrictions on them. Theyre always look g for ways to get around the rules. So why shouldnt we, too?
If they can do, WE can do it.
Even Mr. Rogers recommended this kind of approach. Remember, it was he who quoted the advice that I think his mom gave him long ago, for when things go wrong: look for the helpers.

(3,060 posts)Before Roe, women went to New York all the time. But on a couple of different levels, I think states will let it happen.

(23,206 posts)Before Roe v Wade, abortion was illegal all over the east coast except for NY. FL later changed their constitution to enshrine privacy, but that was after Roe v Wade. In 1969 we started our own underground railroad based in NE FL. We sent people to Planned Parenthood in NYC and they would do the abortion there prior to 10 weeks or send you to a dr. who would do a procedure up to 12 weeks. When one of our friends started hemorrhaging, they took her to a hospital. We helped by giving the Planned Parenthood # in NYC, helped with the calls if wanted, loaned $$ for the plane and cab rides, took people to the airport early in the am and picked them up later that same day.
It's just so disgusting that young women are going to have their reproductive choices limited so arbitrarily and viciously by hate filled stupid misogynistic controlling men and the women they have brainwashed. Rotten Russian Repugs in FL have a tougher path to hoe to make this come true here since a woman's right to medical privacy is now part of our constitution. Don't think they will be able to overturn that, they've been trying hard for the last 30+ years and no success so far.

(22,528 posts)They've been doing the work and so there isn't really a need to reinvent the wheel. Also, people need to not say they'll take strangers into their homes unless they'll take any and all strangers without already adding to trauma or intersectional oppressions.
