A National Farmers Union executive and active Wisconsin dairy farmer joined Midwest agricultural leaders this week in condemning President Donald Trump's ongoing trade war with China, warning of increased financial stress and suicide among farmers.
Patty Edelburg, vice president of the Washington-based NFU group, which says it represents some 200,000 U.S. farms, appeared on Fox News Thursday and detailed what she viewed as the dire state of American farming amid falling income and commodity prices, resulting in a surging number of bankruptcies, increased financial stress and suicide in the agricultural community.

(9,138 posts)we city-slicker Democrats thought that the men and women who worked the land and raised cattle would have instantly recognized Donald Trumps BS and voted against him. But you voted for him and now youre on the ride to Hell with the rest of us.

And yes, they get to ride to Hell with us all. Too bad they couldn't listen to reason. *
*Just an addendum: I used to live out West among wheat farmers, so I'm talking from anecdotal experience here. I certainly may have lived in a large farming town that was a total anomaly in voting MAGA 85%.

(9,138 posts)that guys like me wanted to believe in (AS opposed to their narrow-minded, bigoted Deep South counterparts). We wanted to believe it even when the back parts of our intellects told us that our belief wasn't true.
A pity they threw it away and bought into that right-wing BS.

(10,183 posts)had on their property. None of us could figure out why, except he is a Republican. They sure got what many of them paid for.
As an aside: Despite pockets of rural Trumpers around here, I know quite a few farm families in my area, and all of the families we're casual friends with are pretty solid Dems. Sadly they're all getting trampled.
