He has finally blown his stack. He has lost it.
He has now appointed his self-picked lawyer, Mr William Barr, to be in charge of the "Investigation against the Investigators". He has given Barr the unprecedented power to de-classify intelligence from all the intelligence agencies involved in the Mueller investigation.
So the war against his political enemies has begun. He is accusing his political enemies of "treason" and seems to relish the idea of executing them.
Some wondered what would happen when the investigation crossed his "red line"? What would happen when they started to get close to his tax returns and his financial information? What would happen when a couple of judges ruled that he didn't have a leg to stand on?
He seeks to reverse the blame.
Perhaps it was the words of Speaker Nancy Pelosi that drove him over the edge? She has a way of pointing out that the emperor has no clothes. The truth scares the beJesus out of Donald Trump.
Our country is entering a new phase of threats from the White House. Pelosi mentioned that Trump's family and staff might want to stage an intervention for him? That might not be such a bad idea?

Barr is a bigger liar than Trump, maybe he already has the results of his investigation written up before the investigation begins?

(342 posts)I suspect that the Intelligence Community will have a louder and clearer message for both Trump and Barr if they continue to push. I suspect they are tired of being used by unfit Republican Administrations. Barr better watch out on whose toes he steps on because some are likely to be on the foot that is going to come back and kick him in the ass. And when Barr goes down, so will Trump.

(7,142 posts)Trump already sent a warning to FBI Director Wray and I have heard crickets from Wray. If Wray takes on Trump he is gone and Trump will appoint another one of his cronies and his Republican enablers will accommodate him.
liberalgunwilltravel
(342 posts)The best thing for the IC to do as it sets about to destroy a corrupt administration is to move quietly. I wouldn't expect Wray or anyone else in the IC to make a lot of noise until they are good and ready.

(18,015 posts)The thing about intelligence agencies, they know far more than many of us feel comfortable with. They've been lambasted for years in liberal circles with Patriot Act abuses, that whole Snowden slog, etc. Now they may be one of, if not the critical piece that saves the republic. For anyone with a closet bursting with skeletons, they're the last group to start a fight with. But, this crew isn't known for it's strategic thinking...or thinking at all. That kabuki in the rose garden this week was some of the stupidest shit I've seen in a generation.

(19,208 posts)that the intelligence agencies will refuse to cooperate. This would force a legal battle that would probably go straight to the Supreme Court. I'd love to see if Chief Justice Roberts would side with the Constitution, or the orange haired maniac in chief.

(9,426 posts)need to be involved. Just his daughter/wife. If she rejects him, he will be crushed. The "boys" are just collateral damage. They are all going to the UK with daddy. The US royal family will meet the British royal family. How quaint. I wonder if Jr. girlfriend will go, too? Since she now has a (taxpayer funded) position in the administration, then she will be there.

(7,142 posts)all we have seen is what Barr allowed us to see. I am ok with Mueller testifying behind closed doors as long as he is not restricted and as long as we all get to see the transcript.

Most people won't bother to read the transcript if it is released.

(42,770 posts)Don't they? Jeez not sure if I even remember them arguing or divided on anything, can you? They really are pretty simple. Three aims...keep power, make $$ for other rich people and be for anything deplorables want.

(5,503 posts)This is the first time the US system has had to deal with an obviously insane President.
The process to dethrone him needs to be thought out carefully, planned carefully, and be 100% guaranteed of success.
We have spent more than 2 years listing the reasons why he is unfit for office. The time has now come to plan what to do about it. It's new territory for the US structures of justice and politics.
Laura PourMeADrink
(42,770 posts)made up front the moment the report came out which adds credence. It equates cause and effect when everyone was watching. It takes partisanship out of it. Bad sadly that didn't happen and each day we separate from cause it gives people (non-political types) appearance of 1) nothing was urgently bad enough to act immediately and 2) they just hate him.

(7,142 posts)has already been set in motion. The Mueller report vindicated Trump, the FBI and Democrats (Hillary) carried on a witch hunt against Trump. Barr is a bigger liar than Trump, he is going to come up with a cock and bull story where the FBI and Democrats (Hillary) colluded against Trump. Trump wants to put Hillary on the 2020 ballot.
The thing is we have the facts that Trump is an unindicted co-conspirator in a felony, 900 judges, prosecutors, determined that Trump committed the crime of obstruction of justice. Is that not enough to begin an impeachment inquiry?
I still say that this in the back of Speaker Pelosi's mind. She was Speaker in 2010 when Republicans flipped a net 64 House seats. I am in no way blaming her for that tremendous defeat, but she must be thinking that she doesn't want a repeat of 2010.
Laura PourMeADrink
(42,770 posts)link that to a decision on impeachment? Has there been any evidence at all that voters would leave us in droves if we impeach? I would only disown a party that impeached if it was some frivolous reason.
Seems like we just need to convince those sound minded people who voted for trump but aren't crazy.
Seems like more harm is being done now by infuriating good Dems who wanted impeachment yesterday. How can she maintain the House with their lackluster now?

(1,702 posts)happening and the condition of things in Gov. For Pelosi to actually say "intervention" must clearly mean she KNOWS from inside observations and other eyewitnesses that tRUMP is really, and I mean REALLY a threat to America and Democracy. It's a statement screaming for action. It's not a political statement imo it's a true call for action.

(111,111 posts)I don't think the media should portray it as a "battle of words" between the Democratic Speaker and the Republican President.
