(9,138 posts)Despite the Texas Legislatures successful efforts at gerrymandering the Lone Star State, there are a lot of Latino citizen-voters not only in urban areas, but in suburban and exurban areas. Representative Roy might be able to say such vile things in mostly-white states like Iowa and Wisconsin, but saying that hes indifferent to the fate of desperate Central American women and kids might not play so well in his district, especially should some of his constituents note that those refugees look like them.
Edit: Despite my lingering incredulity at the results of the 2016 elections, I still believe that there are limits to the politics of cruelty,, at least in certain circumstances.
