The funny thing is that if you zoom into the image even more, it looks like there is an alien face in it.

If I had to guess, i would say it was a water droplet on the lens causing a prism effect.

Or aliens.

the trail is what threw me off

It would be a wild coincidence that a plane just happened to be right there with the flare. It is also strange that the plane appears to be very low and even seems to be painted green.

As for the trail, in my theory of the water droplet, I would assume that is the trail caused by it rolling down the lens. I could be totally full of shit but water droplets are the only thing I have ever seen have that kind of effect.

It seems to be an organic shape, similar to the shape of the tops of the trees. You can't tell if it is above or below the plane. The blob is separate from the stream which trails it, there is a gap. I made my own version of it, a negative. The plane seems very low.
