(116,044 posts)named after a guy who was an actual war hero, thought Trump was a dick and didn't want him at his funeral. Trump will never have a ship named after him except maybe for a garbage scow, and he knows it and he can't stand it.

(17,984 posts)Why doesn't NY City name all its garbage scows the 'Trump 1, Trump 2, Donald, Ivanka...etc'? Now that would be wonderful. You should send that recommendation in.

Meghan McCain (@MeghanMcCain) Tweeted:
Trump is a child who will always be deeply threatened by the greatness of my dads incredible life. There is a lot of criticism of how much I speak about my dad, but nine months since he passed, Trump won't let him RIP. So I have to stand up for him.
It makes my grief unbearable. https://t.co/gUbFAla1VE

(10,281 posts)If the Navy brass decided to name a ship after a legit tortured war hero (even IF it's a war that was ill-concieved and ultimately fruitless)...
Who the FUCK does Trump think he is, do not acknowledge the Navy's respect for the man??
What a total BITCH MOVE.

(36,512 posts)This warship was originally named after John S. McCain, Sr., and John S. McCain, Jr., both admirals in the United States Navy. John S. McCain, Sr. commanded the aircraft carrier USS Ranger, and later the Fast Carrier Task Force during the latter stages of World War II. John S. McCain, Jr. commanded the submarines USS Gunnel and USS Dentuda during World War II. He subsequently held a number of posts, rising to Commander-in-Chief of the United States Pacific Command, before retiring in 1972. These men were, respectively, the grandfather and father of Senator John S. McCain III.
On 11 July 2018, at a rededication ceremony, Senator John McCain was added as a namesake, along with his father and grandfather.

The Velveteen Ocelot
(116,044 posts)and start tweeting about how McCain wasn't a hero and didn't deserve to have a ship named after him, or for there to be photographs of Trump bloviating to the troops with a ship with McCain's name on it in the background. Trump's minions probably didn't want to deal with all the whining.
