attempt to investigate the investigators? It will be interesting to see if Barr proceeds with that angle, or if it was actually being used to keep Mueller quiet. Now that the cat is out of the bag, what's the point?
It just seems odd that Barr even brought it up as an option when HE HAD TO KNOW that Russian interference was confirmed by the time he became Attorney General. Which is to say, we had a valid national security problem to solve so what the hell is he talking about? He has to be smart enough to recognize the circular logic: Trump is blaming the Obama administration for not doing enough to investigate Russia's involvement, and yet, at the same time he wants to open up the investigation to punish the investigators. Wouldn't that make Russia happy?
It's really difficult to follow this president's logic. All we can do is wait and see if Barr continues to use that pressure point now that Mueller has come out and contradicted him and, essentially, impugned Barr's reputation.

(5,273 posts)Barr is trying to do the same thing that Nunes, Jim Jones, Mark Meadows and others in right wing have attempted to do- prop up Trump and get him re-elected by keeping the Trump base convinced that the real wrongdoing was Democrats and Hillary supporters involved in instigating the FBI Russia probe and the Steele Dossier because Repubs can't allow the base to believe that there was any collusion or wrongdoing by Trump for fear that they will turn against Traitor Trump.

(46,786 posts)This last helicopter presser is showing him in a meltdown. He's even saying there was no obstruction claimed in the Mueller report. And now he says that Russia didn't help him get elected AFTER he claimed they did in a tweet! I think he's finally unraveling.

(2,023 posts)That the "investigation of the investigation" is exactly why Mueller held this press conference. The fact that he reiterated that Russian agents hacked the DNC server, that Trump was not exonerated and that it was their DUTY to conduct the investigation were direct shots across the bow of Battleship Obstruction.
