Shortly after midnight on New Years Eve, as Americas party city was celebrating the arrival of 2020, a desperate woman on a suburban Las Vegas street leapt out of the back door of a white Hyundai Sonata with a sunroof, and ran toward a front door, chased by the driver of the car.
As she charged up the sidewalk, she must have known the chances of anyone being at home at this time, on this night, were vanishingly small.
The woman must have felt utterly abandoned as she banged on that door, screaming for help, but no one came to assist her.
Although no human came to her rescue, a digital eye was watching: Her frantic appeal for help was captured in minute detail by a doorbell camera installed in the front door of the house she ran toward.

(36,161 posts)It's time THEY have to deal with it. The costs should become so high they rethink their fake male entitlements.
AND we HAVE to finally pass the ERA. All the necessary states have ratified it, but it will take a Democratic president -- maybe ONLY a woman Democratic president -- to push it toward being finalized as an amendment.

(20,219 posts)I wish we didnt turn inward so much. We should set our rage outwards, to resist! Women should get better at self defense, too.

(54,087 posts)Maybe it would help them identify a potential violent criminal if they do a background check on them, maybe before going out on a date?
I mean, that sounds like a good idea, since most assaults come from men who know the victim. This a-hole didn't start off with kidnapping. He was exposed to violence young, committed smaller petty acts in high school, and gradually became more hateful and violent.
That's almost how it always is with sociopaths.

(14,599 posts)It's a godsend. Not only that, there's a Nextdoor app for your phone. These two things have really pulled our community together. People are talking to each other. They are looking out for each other. There is a kind of different feel - a feel of community.
That is a great thing!

(11,521 posts)Everyone should join it. Not only have I found out about a few house thief's, but I found a good local plumber and we banded together to fight against a Circle K they wanted to build right next to houses!
From garage sales to missing pets its a great site to belong to.
And living in a conservative town (in blue state) it makes me feel good to have a place to join with others with no politics. I know many here think republicans are the devil, but I think they are brainwashed. I hold no hope of them changing so its nice to have a safe place to meet.

(10,585 posts)Motion activated 1080p with night vision. We dont have a doorbell. The great thing about the cameras is I have it set up to do additional actions - this could help in situations like this:
1) motion detected
2) phone notified (I can talk through the cameras even when not home via my phone).
3) motion triggers lights to come on full blast - around the house too.
4) motion triggers speakers playing music or sounds.
Sometimes our security helps others (hopefully!).

"suburban Las Vegas"
Okay, not North Las Vegas or northern LV (confusing, yes, there is a suburb called North Las Vegas and LV itself has a northern section).
Then they said near the I-15 and I-215 interchange, which narrows it down to north Henderson (the LV part is close too the airport and not residential). It's a pretty good area for the most part, with houses 20 ~ 30 years old and well kept neighborhoods.
