We know he uses a tanning system due to the white marks around his eyes. But he also uses make up on top of it, literally. His staff has said that he has to have a couple of bottles and one partially used at all times like he does with his Tic Tacs. He is a compulsive nut.

at the label on some facial cream I bought a few weeks ago, I ended up with a tube of moisturizing cream that has a tan color to it. I almost threw it out when I discovered my mistake, but instead I decided to try it. When it comes out of the tube, it looks like there is a lot of color to it. Deep tan. I put it on my face and could not see any difference between it and the color of my face (ghostly white), so I can't imagine what kind of color is put into these products at the link.

And how does it keep from dripping off his face and getting on his shirts? Seems like more damn trouble than it's worth.

There has not been such an incredibly vain ruler since Louis 14th, and he carried it off much better.

Good thing, too. I have freckles, and while I hoped I would end up with an even color, it turned the freckles very very dark brown and the skin in between a much lighter shade of brown. It exaggerated all unevenness of skin tone. So much for vanity!
