Garrett Haake: Schumer suggesting "it may now be time to send articles."

Garrett Haake ✔ @GarrettHaake

Schumer at press conference says he knew all along McConnell would never go for a fair trial. Promises votes down the road on witnesses and documents. Says we will see if four Republicans support a real trial.

Sounds like he’s ready to move forward...

Garrett Haake ✔ @GarrettHaake

Schumer says that by not sending articles earlier, Pelosi has prevented McConnell from doing a quick dismissal of articles, and has bought time in which new info has come out (NYT article, Bolton willingness).

Suggests it may now be time to send articles.

If Mitch thinks he has the votes for a quick dismissal without articles being sent or managers being named, let him try, and let’s see the backlash against him and the vulnerable incumbents.

I just saw where mitch said the republicans are going to move forward with rules for the trial w/o input from the democrats. mitch has the votes in the senate to do whatever he wants. So be it.

Close enough that McTurtle cannot get it out of the way before SOTU, but long enough prior that any Trump complaints about holding onto the articles make no sense if he includes them in his speech.
