There can be no fair trial under these present conditions.

Last edited Thu Jan 9, 2020, 10:27 PM - Edit history (1)

Republicans refuse to judge the evidence impartially.

The entire process is a waste of time, as it presently stands.

Why should Pelosi assist them in their unfair trial by giving them the Articles of Impeachment? If they cannot permit witnesses and evidence, it should not even be called a "trial".

Until the Republicans vote on witnesses and documents, there are no rules. A "trial" in the Senate cannot take place without rules.

It is not enough to simply state that one has the votes, but then not vote.

Until Mr McConnell can show in black and white that he can have a fair trial, Nancy Pelosi should continue to hold the Articles of Impeachment indefinitely.

Everybody knows that McConnell and the Republicans are acting on behalf of Donald Trump, and not our country or our Constitution. They are fooling no one.

Let them take it to Court. The Democrats and Speaker Pelosi are only asking for fairness. They should refuse to participate in a sham trial to cover up the crimes of this Administration.

Can anyone imagine a trial in which the witnesses who observed the murder are not allowed to testify? Nor is any forensic evidence allowed to presented and any sworn statements disallowed. He would have been a perfect judge at the lynching trials for the defendants and Southern injustice.

He is from Alabama. Not that it matters. Just a bit of useless trivia.

It was worth the effort to gain some negotiating leverage, but there wasn't much to work with there.

If the other side can point to a set of rules that were accepted unanimously by both sides in the Clinton impeachment and say they want to do that... it's awfully hard to win that negotiation. Then there's the institutional problem that the House has little ability to tell the Senate how to run the trial.

Again... worth the try, but even Tribe recognized that it was going to be a delay at best. The articles were always on their way to the Senate.

What happens next will influence those elections.

There is no court with jurisdiction over congressional proceedings, I'm afraid.

She can legally, and in good faith, protecting and defending the Constitution, wait until a new Senate is constituted in 2021, and whether a trial will even be appropriate at that time.

Until then, to send these Articles to an arena that is officially declared to be not impartial, is to allow a constitutional crisis to dissolve into failed Democracy. That is the goal of this corrupt administration.

Corruption kills democracy. That's what we face.

And we made the case, this might have a slight chance of working. It hasn’t worked out that way. I’m not sure anything has been accomplished but I can’t be mad at them for trying to do something about his corruption.

as Moscow Mitch has. Does he (again) know something about the coming elections that we do not? I hope the ballot boxes are secure. I know Ivanka has trademarks on one type. That raises suspicions right there. They are likely all cued in to punch R even before they are activated. One thing I know for certain, the gop will FOREVER be held responsible for the clown in the WH, and the damage he has already done to this country. Any gop members propping him up will share in that blame. He is a joke, worldwide. Most ignorant president EVER.

Get rid of the law-breaking republican majority in the senate so we can finally get rid of the law-breaking person in the white house and his minions in the justice dept.

There has to be some kind of deal that has been worked out. For now we wait to learn what it is. Robert's reputation is on the line so will he go along with the sham? So many moving parts here. For now, at least, I will give Nancy the benefit of the doubt. She has managed this very well so far.
