House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said there will not be a vote Friday to name impeachment managers, a sign that the weeks-long impasse over starting President Donald Trump's impeachment trial in the Senate will continue at least into next week.
"No," Pelosi told reporters Friday when asked if she would hold a vote before lawmakers leave town for the weekend on naming impeachment managers, a procedural step that's necessary before the articles of impeachment are sent to the Senate.
Pelosi left open the door that she could still make an announcement about her plans for impeachment later Friday, though because of the legislative mechanics behind the impeachment process, the House would still need to vote to send the articles to the Senate. Asked Friday about when she will make an announcement on about her plans, she said, "I'll be communicating with my members, and perhaps we'll see that.

(111,110 posts)He needs to put it in writing. There can be no trial without evidence or witnesses. What is he trying to cover up?

(86,872 posts)I hope she's just giving them "words" while not planning to change her demands for the Senate to do the appropriate thing. Since that is unlikely and will result in a stand-off indefinitely, I suspect something is yet to come to the surface and she knows it but will take some time for things to happen.
In recent days we have seen that pence is showing more of his role in the gang and this is important because he has to go at the same time as ignoramus. And as they seem more emboldened and expressing more hubris it is becoming obvious to anyone with a brain what's going on. I think an internal revolt may also be coming soon.
I suspect that the grand strategy is to hold the Articles (while bringing more) as all the Rs reveal their complicity in the cover-up. Hydra has several heads and cutting off just one is insufficient to destroy the monster as many more appear in the severed head's place. As a group of enablers, they are revealing the entire network of players in this racketeering cabal. A sweep will become necessary eventually.
Just wait for it.
Today is the first full moon of the year along with some other hinky stuff so I would say, lay low and be prepared for big surprises in the next three weeks. Like Mme. Speaker is said to have proclaimed, she wants to see him in prison. I think she has a pathway for that eventuality and once things get rolling, could move really fast.

I think there's a hit ordered on poor old Lev by now. He's at home so I hope he has some good protection. Wouldn't want him to get epsteined.

(82,849 posts)Gee, last week was all about Pelosi caving and Trump winning, and even such perspicacious observers of the political scene like Chris Cillizza were saying that Pelosi got out-played and out-smarted. Of course, looking at what Pelosi actually said last week, a person could tell that she had given herself lots of wiggle room and plenty of outs if the Senate didn't get its act together.
But the media must have a narrative, and "Haw haw, ya dumb girl!" is a perennial favorite.

(19,213 posts)Had to be included, but that she did it with little comments of fanfare is smart. Let some GOP senators digest it before theres talking points. Covering up murder for hire might be a bridge too for for several of them.
