It's not clear if that's what she's doing, but if it is, it's perfect - any delays will push any trial conclusion past the SOTU.

She's notified the pertinent committee chairman to "prepare" to be ready for something next week. That's extraordinarily spongy language that allows for change at any moment. However, it does signal that the House is "doing something," which answers one of Needy Amin's constant complaints. I read it as a shrewd move that puts the onus to act back on the Senate.

Much will depend on how the House Managers pressure the Senators to demand witnesses. There cannot be a fair resolution to any trial if witnesses and evidence are not permitted. It was expected that the Senate would apply extra pressure to attain witnesses once the trial began, especially after the WH was so aggressive in silencing them during the House investigation. That may have been a little too much to expect from McConnell and the White House?

just a start of a slow walk. Looks like progress, is in reality, but also eats time while the opposition shows complicity in the coverup. They are doing just that, this past week was perfect for them showing their hand... and their filthy hands are covered in blood and dirt which will be seeing the light of day before long. Timing is crucial and this is a way to buy at least a week.

The trial may be going on as he gives his SOTU speech.
