(35,382 posts)Most bands I've seen can't pull off a lot of the hard stuff in concert while not making it sound canned. Rush could. They were awesome.
Peart found his way. First track, first album, "Finding my way."
Sad.

(12,132 posts)but Neil didn't play on that album. John Rutsey was their first drummer. Neil joined for Fly by Night.
I feel bad for all the people who never got to see them. I saw them several times. 30something years ago I took a girl I liked to see the Grace Under Pressure tour and she she thought they were great. I thought she was great for thinking that so we've been married for 33 years.

(17,865 posts)so I kind of think of it as a Peart song. Rutsey died young as well, and he was there at the beginning.

(10,497 posts)Had the skin on my face burned off from. Rotten radiator hose shooting coolant at me trying to get to a Rush concert in San Antonio. Finally saw them 3 times after that. It was worth it!

(7,681 posts)Great drummer and interesting lyricist. Always made me think.
My all time favorite music lyric that is often applicable in voting... "those who choose not to decide still have made a choice"
Ordinarily I wouldn't use these two emojis together but in this case...

(1,866 posts)Thank the metal gods I got to see them once. What is it with Canadian power trios? Between these guys and Triumph, I cant think of bands that had tighter sounds at ear bleeding volumes.
Rest In Peace Neal.

(17,865 posts)Life sucks. Now nothing but tears. Thank you Mr. Peart for the many years of wonderful music.
Just put on Moving Pictures. Too emotional right now to play my favorite album by them A Farewell to Kings. I will save that for when I go to bed tonight.
Dr. Strange

(17,865 posts)at least I saw some Youtube tabs to that effect.
I hate how we intrude into the personal lives of our entertainers. It says something about Mr. Peart that those closest to him were able to keep a lid on it. I thought he was suffering arthritis so the cancer was closely held.
Rush is one of my favorite bands, and he died too young. We will not see his like again as a drummer and rock lyricist.
