Tornadoes destroy homes in South

Tornadoes destroyed homes in Arkansas and Missouri and also caused damage in Oklahoma as severe storms threatened much of the South over the weekend, officials said.

More than 10,000 people were without power close to noon Saturday in New Orleans, according to reports.
In Mississippi, straight-line wind reportedly knocked at least 30 train cars off the tracks.

I wonder what's happening to the climate, you know...

And Arkansas, Mississippi, and Missouri are red, Bible-believing states. How could climate change affect them there?

I came out of a bar in Memphis one December night in about 1978.

It was 95 degrees! Me and my girlfriends took one look at that stormy sky, and we decided that we better get our butts headed west across the river toot sweet! We made it the sixty miles home, but it was rough goin’, what with lightning, thunder, and downpour rain flooding the delta farmland and highway.

In the winter of about 1982, it rained and stormed so much that the saturated ground couldn’t support the poles for overhead power lines. The poles would just fall right over.

I remember lots of stormy winters in the south in the 70’s and 80’s

We're still watching the weather, here, to see if we're going to get another ice armageddon. Unfortunately, we probably won't know until after dark. Right now, we're switching between rain and sleet. I predict a sleepless night.

70 degrees here in southern KY today, with really high winds, pouring rain, and tornado watch. In a few days, it'll be back in the 30's.

A good day to take down the xmas tree.

I came out of Memphis this morning and crossed the bridge into Arkansas. It was surreal. Blinding sheets of water going sideways. Lightning.

When I got up north a ways on 55 I saw a couple trucks blown over.

I knew this stuff happened out west but didn’t realize it could happen in the middle of the country.
