You know what I just love about MEGXIT...🙄😖

The subconscious (and conscious) bias we have in the UK to other is still strong. Empire and the notion that we are somehow superior goes deep with a certain type of chap. You know the sort - they all voted for Bexit for a start.

I have done my very best to try and ignore ALL of this. If they want to bugger off and make their own way in the world then good luck to them. I don't blame them one bit. BUT every frigging time you turn on the radio we are confronted with yet another programme dedicated to what they are now calling a constitutional crisis - way to over egg the biscuit . Good grief. The vitriol and nasty that is all over the airwaves and in the papers fully and utterly reinforces that the media coverage they have to endure is not just tinged (and sometimes explicit) in racism, but fundamentally steeped in othering. A black woman at the heart of the establishment has been a challenge to the status quo that many have utterly failed to adapt to. And shame on them.

So this sums up the situation we are currently living in. A bunch of white middle aged privileged talking heads are talking to each about how their coverage of the Duchess of Sussex has not been racist while calling her ungrateful and uppity for not willing to put up with being called ungrateful and uppity, reassuring themselves all the while that there is no way they or their coverage has been racist. But the Sussex's are the ones with problem?

*Deep fucking sigh*

It must be a decision that will benefit the two making it. Time and again I've found the more frantic the protesting, teeth gnashing, gloom and doom coming from the other side the more beneficial to those wanting change. From what I've seen I'd be terrified to stay, it almost seems a cult, Harry and his bride are really taking a beating.

Jan 2020

I see the Daily Mail (which makes me ill to look at) is plastered today with lies and innuendo about the Royals, along with their usual plastering of gossip and sexism. They're even pushing rumors of marital problems between Harry and Meghan and bro' problems between Harry and Will, which if there was, they had much to do in causing the problem - just as they did with Harry's mom.

Soph, I've never understood why the British people are so enamored by the tabloids but maybe we're just as bad with our obsessions with talk radio, reality TV shows and sports.....and gossip. This is how people like Murdoch build their empires of destruction.

We wish Harry and Meghan all the best and I hope within the next year or so they finally have some days of peace. This too will pass and the tabloids will move on to other shiny objects.

Probably not handled the best.

I generally think this is a tempest in a teapot fanned by the British press. Harry is not exactly in imminent danger of being crowned the next monarch, let them go live somewhere in peace. I couldn't tell you where Charles' siblings are or what they do. Or frankly, who they are.

And speaking of Charles, whom I have stood up for since Diana appeared on the scene, he needs to zip it when the subject is royal behavior.

And I WILL add, and people are free to do what they think is best for them in these circumstances, that I think a more effective change agent would be to stand firm right there in London.

not the dark, dystopian notions news-only create. That's what other reports are for.

I truly regret Meghan's and Harry's current problems, but they will pass. That she could marry into the royal family is proof that those reactionaries acting out so badly have already lost. Don't forget to look for Russia's hand, either, in amplifying their helpless fears and angers. The noise hides but can't eliminate the reality that a large majority celebrated this marriage and all it means, just as a large majority here and people around the planet did Obama's election and reelection, and all they mean.

Reportedly, Meghan just signed a deal with Disney. They can split their time between Orlando and Anaheim and greet visitors to the Disney parks. Maybe they can spend some time at Euro Disney, too. I don't know what actual skills Harry has, but I'm sure someone will hire him for publicity work. Once two are making their own money, they can seperate from their royal family/royal stipend and do their own thing.

Besides tbe cruelty of racism for Meghan, there is the painful memory for Harry of what the press did to his mother. Must feel like a deja vu nightmare to him to see them do this again with his wife and children.

May they prosper in peace, happiness, and independence wherever they choose to go.
