That Evangelical rally tRump had in Miami was stranger than I thought.

There was an opinion piece in USA Today yesterday written by an attendee of this rally:

'Evangelicals for Trump' was an awful display by supposed citizens of the Kingdom of God

...Before Trump’s speech Friday night, several evangelical leaders laid their hands on the president and prayed for him. “Apostle” Guillermo Maldonado, the pastor of El Rey Jesus, prayed that Trump would fulfill his role as a new King Cyrus, the Old Testament Persian ruler who released the Jews from captivity and allowed them to rebuild Jerusalem.

Paula White, a preacher of the Prosperity Gospel (God blesses the faithful with financial and physical health), prayed against the demonic forces, presumably Democrats, trying to undermine Trump’s presidency.

He's what now? A new King Cyrus? I'm a little taken back but not really surprised. I remember when the Orange Messiah had declared himself to be a King and The Second Coming. Okay, so now he's King Cyrus.
https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/trump-news-latest-jewish-antisemitism-king-of-israel-twitter-democrats-a9072951.html

...This rhetorical flourish was all very appropriate on such an occasion because Fox News, more than anything else, including the Bible and the spiritual disciplines, has formed and shaped the values of so many people in the sanctuary. Trump’s staff knows this. Why else would they put such a roll call in the speech?

At times, it seemed like Trump was putting a new spin on the heroes of the faith described in the New Testament book of Hebrews. Instead of Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Sarah, Joseph, Moses, David, and Samuel, we got Sean (Hannity), Laura (Ingraham), Tucker (Carlson), and the hosts of Fox and Friends.

So now these prosperity nut-jobs are declaring the talking head asshats of Faux Noise to be on an equal footing of Moses, David, and even Enoch?! Oh dear!

Below is a link to an Evangelical's blog that describes Marmalade Mouselinni in an eerily accurate description of him and his followers as the True Antichrist! The author does have some conservative views so read this for the entertainment value it presents:

believe that people who are rich are God's chosen and poor people have sinned against God.

I thought it was bad in the 60's with all of the cults.

Because you are God's chosen ones, you can do anything you want. Raping, killing babies and then eating them on live TV - all good. But if you are poor and want an abortion because you are raped, you need to be punished.

Christian, or at least Jesus's, values, so that's why the comparison of how God has chosen depraved Trump to do His good works through. He's done it before.

In any case, Trump was dependent on their support from the beginning, and and now he is desperately so. So this has been going on all along.

Trump supposedly was never without some degree of belief in a god, even if mostly areligious, and he's given to delusions. So I wouldn't be surprised if this whackjob, under constant influence of religious extremists since he first needed them for his run, hasn't convinced himself into becoming a True Believer, at least to the extent of believing God's chosen HIM in HIS Greatness.

who did much worse things than Trump has ever done. Sometimes, they did these terrible things on God's direct orders. In the stories, God blessed and favored those men, and put them into positions of power over others. It's not the least bit inconsistent for the Evangelicals to suppose that God made Trump president in order to achieve his ends.

From http://www.dumbingofage.com/2016/blog/antichrist/

A little context: the cartoonist, Dave Willis, grew up in a strict conservative evangelical household, and Joyce, the little kid/older kid/young woman in this progression is something of an alter-ego of his about how that bubble bursts for some people, and of some of the hypocrisies that manifest in the people for whom it doesn't burst.

1 Timothy 6:10 King James Version (KJV)

(which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows)

I'm an atheist, but this one surely rings true.

I don't think I have much to contribute, so I'm surprised that I just hit 2,000 DU posts!

Back in the '70s when I was enrolled in elected courses, I was following along on the Evangelical movement that was just beginning to take hold in America. I became very interested in eschatological studies, and really got immersed in them. Despite that many years later after becoming increasingly jaded by the commercialism pervading the modern evangelical movement, and disillusioned by the horrors I kept seeing around me, I became so estranged from *religion* that I gave it up. Frankly, I really stopped believing. I don't know if I really - if I were to be brutally honest - actually became an atheist, but I'd say it's a pretty close self-characterization. That said, I've not forgotten anything I studied about the End Times.

Looking around me now, watching the planet burn up, along with people and animals, watching floods, tornadic winds, earthquakes, and the skies growing sootier and more noxious by the hour, and watching in horror as no one in control of the levers of governments or agencies here and even abroad, seemed to be alarmed about it. It's almost as if they believe they alone somehow - those in control of everything - think they'll be somehow exempt from the results of their rape and ruination of the planet.

tRump may not be the Antichrist, but I can't say I haven't been recognizing the signs and trying (in vain) to damp them down in my mind and poo-poo them. I simply can't any longer. The thing that really caps it off to me is the fact that, the very people who should be warning the world of this menace, are the very so-called *religious leaders* of the Christian churches. They, and their *worshipers* are defined as the apostate church at End Times. That, to me, is the most significant thing about tRump and every word he lies and every evil deed he does, he is fulfilling the biblical prophecies found within the pages of the Old and New Testament books of the Bible. I don't know for a fact that he is, but I don't know that he isn't either.

In the book of Mark, Jesus HIMSELF says flat out he'll return within the lifetimes of a few men who are at a gathering.

It's been 2000 years since they died, and guess what! No Jesus returning.

This entire "endtimes" fairy tale was concocted by doom and gloom preachers more than 150 years ago, and every year some preacher says "This is the date of the rapture!" and it never happens.

Our planet will continue to stay as it is, and so will we, with crime, philanthropy, war, peace, terrorism, good national initiatives, disasters natural and un-unnatural, births, deaths, etc, etc. until the Sun goes Red Giant phase, and if it doesn't swallow the Earth completely will cook it to a cinder.
