The mafia never talks in terms of "Kill her." These conversations are exactly what a hit sounds like, they even go further in talking about getting her away from security, having someone inside, and naming a price. This is the type of conversation that gets mob bosses sent to prison. The FBI knows exactly what they are talking about, and so do we.

All during this period Yovanovich had friends/allies in the State Department working to protect her and her position, but whatever apparently was going down caused them to warn her that night to get out asap. I'm remembering that the time she left she believed the U.S. had her back and had no idea her own president was plotting with vicious criminals to hurt her, and her shock when she learned of that phone call.

I noticed that no detailed testimony was given about what happened after she returned. A plot to ruin, and perhaps even imprison, her with charges of corruption apparently did not go forward, nor of course did murder. We were merely told that the WH informed her that Trump had lost confidence in her.

Still employed at the State Department but without assignment, career damaged but intact? Doesn't seem nearly enough to satisfy Trump's viciously vengeful nature. I kind of suspect good people were able to protect her from him, an untold story if so, at least to that degree. And at least so far.

Occursto me to wonder if the Russian hackers are trying to develop and further the uncompleted plot against her, as well as others, and thus against Democrats.

But it's so inflammatory that without rock solid, documented proof, if would only appear to be partisan hyperbole and would reflect back on Democrats.

It's concerning that they might have been considering that but underlings planning a murder to benefit Trump doesn't prove that Trump knew and approved of it. There would have to be direct evidence of Trump's involvement for it to be used against him.

Like a mob boss he always hints but never talks directly about crimes he wants committed.

No, not by any means. But the poster had written that Khashoggi was murdered because he had some how insulted trumpie. Not so. Khashoggi had been very outspoken in his criticism about how MBS had sent Saudi Arabia backwards into an ugly repressive place. By stifling dissent, jailing members of his own family, "disappearing" journalists and critics, terminating the rights of women, Khashoggi was chronicling for the world to see the damage MBS was doing to SA. The royal family had heralded the young prince as the face of the future for SA, but Khashoggi was not buying into the PR campaign. He knew smoke and mirrors when he saw it. Instead, he bravely stood up to them and told the world what he saw. Dangerous for a journalist in such a society, but Khashoggi was a man of integrity and honesty and he was not going to allow the Faud family to get away with the lie that they were making a better future for Saudis.

I respected Jamal Khashoggi as a journalist and I mourn his loss. It was a senseless act of depravity. That the US stood by (and much of the Arab world, too) and allowed this barbaric act to go unexamined is tragic and makes me fear for the future.
