Does anyone find it weird that false eyelashes and heavy make up

seems to be the new normal for women in television journalism? When did this style of face painting become normalized? Or is it now expected? I recall being shocked at KellyAnn Conway’s positively ridiculous eyelashes. But now, watching the debate, I see more of the same. I kind of thought it was a republican thing...but now it appears to be inflicted upon all women once again.

I thought that we got rid of these preposterous bound feet, super high heels, or any other silly ornamentation that makes us look like the fools that the patriarchy wants women to be.

Yes, when I turned 16 and was finally allowed to wear makeup, I did wear it a bit. And I would throw on some mascara and lipstick for work.

I am very comfortable in my own skin, and actually feel unnatural with makeup ON. It feels very fake to me.

When I see women wearing makeup that appears to have been applied with a trowel, I don't understand it.
I have seen so many pictures of women who have taken before and after pictures, with and without makeup, and nine times out of 10, they looked better without the makeup on. Go figure.

Make up is a fun activity for many. Women are free to make their own choices. Wear make up, false eye lashes, 4 inch heels, flats, flip flops, their bodies, their choices. I am bothered by people always debating about what a woman ought to or ought not to be doing with HER OWN SELF.

I love to see trends of every kind, from makeup to clothes to strangely colored hair and drastic haircuts. I find tattoos fascinating and even enjoy seeing piercings on lips, noses and eyebrows.

People have very imaginative ways of decorating themselves and developing multiple personas. It’s great fun to watch!

I don’t do anything more than some makeup, but I love seeing others do it.

Only the women so far, that is the issue.

Why only the women are so heavily made up. And yes, it might be that they are doing this on their own, that they simply love wearing all that make up. Clearly many do. But I see no men made appear ridiculous and idiotic in this way. Only the women.

that so many people are so confused that fashionable people (or those who want to be fashionable) might want to follow a makeup trend.

This could purely be my age. False eyelashes worn in professional settings is something really different from where and when they used to be worn and I don't even think I've realized until this moment that it actually is a trend. It has just been an individual set of observations of "XX is wearing false eyelashes?." Thanks for making me realize that I'm not adapting. I went through this for years with exposed bra straps. No matter who was wearing them, I had to fight the impulse to quietly tell the person their bra strap was showing before I realized that oh, they meant for them to be showing. Fashion. Interesting.

about 5-6 years. Same with unusually colored hair and nail polish for all ages. I think that is what is so strange to you. Perhaps seeing it on middle aged women is surprising. Same goes with low rider skinny jeans and super thick soles on shoes. All of these are fashion DON'Ts in my opinion. Fortunately pants are going up to the waist again which is much more flattering, comfortable and fashionable.

Lots of YouTube tutorials, different looks, talks about color palettes. It’s fashion, women either do it or they don’t.

From what I’m seeing, many women—and no few men— are having a lot of fun with it, because it’s by no means a requirement or expected. There’s a “Nordic” look, that is a makeup to look like you don’t wear makeup style.

Beards are in for guys, but this time there’s all kinds of product for it, interesting trims. Different hair styles

I’m no makeup fan myself, it doesn’t look good on me, except in very small amounts but I understand the attraction.

Now, for your enjoyment:

I only have a problem when women feel that they are forced to do something.

Otherwise, women of America, as long as what you are doing doesn't hurt anyone, carry on.

For winter guard. The team requires it.

When she has photos done or a presentation she wears them but in a more natural look. She cuts and trims them, placing a partial whisp on the upper corner and a shorter but slightly fuller partial in the upper middle. It gives the appearance of length and fullness without it looking overdone. Her natural lashes are short and blonde so it does help.

She used to have a short bob & minimal makeup. Now she’s grown out her hair & has piled on the makeup. I think her makeover looks way overdone.

I mean... This is the very sort of policing NV that I hate about the right. It’s their faces. It’s not hurting anyone. Why should it matter so much to you what women decide to do with their makeup, hair, or attire? Just a weird thing to get hung up on.

There are a lot more options and they are a lot easier to apply now as opposed to 15-20 years ago.

I’ve always been a fan of makeup. And I love wearing false eyelashes when my husband and I go out somewhere nice or to a wedding or event.

What I find weird is concern trolling for women.

I'm in my 70s and I have no clue why some of my contemporaries use a spatula to put on make up. It's aging as hell...IMO. I use Jergen's lotion on my face, lip gloss and some mascara. I don't color my gray hair and I am happy about how I look. HOURS getting paint on my face? I have better things to do!!!!!~

Because I don't have a TV (I watch various shows on the internet, I'm hardly a purist who claims never to watch) I don't see very much local news of any kind.

But I can recall a time in the late 1970s when false eyelashes were huge, and lots of women wore them.

While I am capable of looking at another woman (and despite the screen name I am female) and think she ought to wear less makeup, or that a little makeup would definitely improve her looks, and I can think of one friend who wears her hair far too short, unless someone actually asks me for my opinion, I keep those opinions to myself.

Probably started by youtubers. A lot of women watch those YouTube makeup tutorials. I don't think patriarchy has much to do with it. Most women make themselves look the way they like without considering whether or not men will like it. A lot of men don't like that look too.
