From the Rucker/Leonnig book: Trump bellowed "You're a bunch of dopes and babies" at generals

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/youre-a-bunch-of-dopes-and-babies-inside-trumps-stunning-tirade-against-generals/2020/01/16/d6dbb8a6-387e-11ea-bb7b-265f4554af6d_story.html

<snip>

Trump by now was in one of his rages. He was so angry that he wasn’t taking many breaths. All morning, he had been coarse and cavalier, but the next several things he bellowed went beyond that description. They stunned nearly everyone in the room, and some vowed that they would never repeat them. Indeed, they have not been reported until now.

“I wouldn’t go to war with you people,” Trump told the assembled brass.

Addressing the room, the commander in chief barked, “You’re a bunch of dopes and babies.”

For a president known for verbiage he euphemistically called “locker room talk,” this was the gravest insult he could have delivered to these people, in this sacred space. The flag officers in the room were shocked. Some staff began looking down at their papers, rearranging folders, almost wishing themselves out of the room. A few considered walking out. They tried not to reveal their revulsion on their faces, but questions raced through their minds. “How does the commander in chief say that?” one thought. “What would our worst adversaries think if they knew he said this?”

Now they're afraid to give the threat assessment?

How can you not think they're babies and idiots?

No, Trump is NOT right. These men and women are charged with protecting the US. Trump is the idiot.

Bad assessment, IMO.

Mass resignations would've been in order, but none of them wanted to risk their pensions, I guess.

They aren't "dopes and babies".

Instead they have been heading for the door one by one over time.

Milley is Chairman of JCS since Oct 2019
Hyten is Vice Chair of JCS since Nov 2019
McConville is Chief of Staff of the Army since Aug 2019
Berger is Commandant of the Marines since July 2019
Gilday is Chief of Staff of the Navy since Aug 2019
Goldfein is Chief of Staff of the Air Force since July 2019

Is this group going along to get along with Trump? I'd like to know.

If and when the Republican GOP doesn't convict Trump and impeach him, the real fun begins.

I think anyone who's ever been in situations with him away from the prying eyes of the press becomes instinctively aware of the personal danger to them he represents almost immediately.

The majority of people have never been personally exposed to an in-the-flesh sociopath like Old Yeller and it is shocking and dumbfounding.

There are very few people who would speak out and risk their own lives, as well as, the well being and lives of their families.

To see an example, they had no further to look than what was done to Comey. He was remotely, deliberately and cowardly fired by tweet and almost had to walk home.

I'm surprised Tillerson even went as far as he did with his statement to those around him. But, he's got the resources to protect himself. Most in government, don't.

Hahaha... Million Moms going after "Damn". I wish they'd get 5 seconds of unfiltered Trump.

Sure, I know, you don't hit The President, but he's been a bigmouthed asshole since long before 2016. It seems to me that there must have been many opportunities for some desperately-needed attitude adjustment before he left puddles of slime in the oval office.
