They really don't blend in with the haze gray that ships are painted.

Having grease stains and paint blobs blend in with the uniform, so you don't have to replace otherwise perfectly good uniforms nearly as often, is the point.

There have been three versions of the Navy Working Uniform:

NWU I was the blue-and-gray one. It got removed from service because they figured out it was both flammable and strong enough you couldn't rip your way out of it - NOT a good combination for a shipboard uniform!

NWU II is for Navy snake-eaters only.

NWU III is the current version, which has lots of green in it but also enough black to let the grease stains blend in.

Or we changed into our worst set of dunagrees that we kept when doing such work.

I've been out for 30 years now and don't know much about the new uniforms but it appears that the cammies are authorized for shore work or when the ship is in port The Navy is working on testing two piece work uniforms that can be worn ashore and at sea.

"There is now a preliminary design for a “more professional looking two-piece utility shipboard uniform that can be worn both at sea and operational support jobs ashore,” the Navy said. Wear tests for the two-piece prototype are slated for 2017."

Wasn't the point historically of a lot of uniforms and gear for sailors that they would be easily visible in the event someone went over the side and into the drink?

I don't know about you, but if I was working on a carrier or something, Murphy's Law happened, and I plunged into the drink, I would want to be wearing neon-orange. Blue camo like what the US Navy gave to sailors is the last thing I'd want to wear. That's a situation where I want to be seen.

Can I join the Space Force?

After the legislation was signed, Air Force Space Command was immediately redesignated the Space Force, and 16,000 active duty and civilian personnel from AFSPC will now be assigned to the Space Force. But, technically speaking, there is only one person serving in the Space Force.

and then use the troops and resources for 45's manufactured "national energencies" (e g., border patrol, invasions of places that have oil, etc.), where such a uniform would be suitable, without impacting other military projects and thus alienating key constituents. Alternatively, the Pentagon realizes the space farce
will be over when the new administration is sworn in a year from now and doesn't want to waste any more money, even the cost of designing a new uniform, on appeasing Baby45.
