Rosenstein 🐍 leaked the Strzok / Page texts to the press, late night court filing says

https://www.politico.com/news/2020/01/18/rosenstein-strzok-page-texts-100776

Ssssssss!

Rod Rosenstein says he made call to release Strzok-Page texts

By JOSH GERSTEIN

01/18/2020 09:26 AM EST

Former Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein authorized the release to the media of text messages between two highly placed FBI employees who exchanged criticism of then-candidate Donald Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign, the Justice Department has revealed in a new court filing.

Rosenstein also said in the court filing submitted shortly before midnight Friday that he made the decision to share the messages with the press in part to protect FBI agent Peter Strzok and FBI attorney Lisa Page from unfair criticism.

In the messages, Strzok and Page regularly disparaged Trump and appeared to seek to reassure each other he could not be elected. Both called Trump an “idiot” and said Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton deserved to win.

The texts also included murky discussions of an “insurance policy” to guard against Trump’s election. Trump backers have interpreted the reference as a plan to use the then-ongoing investigation into ties between Trump advisers and Russia as way to prevent him from taking office or undermine his presidency, but Strzok and Page have denied any such intent.

I think maybe Comey and Tillerson, were the cleanest, but they were still Republicans.

Lots of stories about his dirty tactics to get elected, like bringing frivolous lawsuits against opponents or charging them with made-up crimes.

Ryan wanted documents and information from Rosenstein and we all assumed that ol' Rod would say no. But he didn't. I recall the video of him walking down the hall after meeting with Ryan with a smarmy grin on his face. What a snake.

"IF" the messages were NOT shared by RR, how the hell would the press or anyone else have access to them other than FBI investigators..did RR know someone would leak them so he got out ahead of it?? - isn't this what the DOJ is investigating Comey for??

I'm confused...

Does anyone believe this line of bullshit that he was worried about "PROTECTING" them?

That he was worried the Senate would "cherry pick"?

GOOD JOB, ROD! Mission accomplished!

That disclosure became the CENTERPIECE of the entire right wing "deep state" argument to undermine Mueller and his investigation.

him since he landed that plane on American Democracy, and those of us who had great hopes that he was a GOOD GUY, yeah, I got nothing nice to say about him.

When he tweets, which is rarely, the responses tell him to “take a seat, pal, you had your chance”...also, I’ve always found it strange that LOSER45 has NEVER tweeted about him - even after Rosenstein stood behind Barr’s performance of the Mueller Report, the orange plume never said “thanks for backin me up”...

Weird. But then again, what isn’t??!

Rod Rosenstein admits he authorized the public release of text messages between FBI agent Peter Strzok and FBI attorney Lisa Page but he claims he only did it to help them "avoid the additional harm of prolonged selective disclosures."

Yeah, right.
