NEW - Changes to the McConnell resolution: 3 days, not 2, will now admit House record into evidence

NEW - Changes to the McConnell resolution: 24 hours over each side will be spread out over *three* days, not *two*, and evidence will be *automatically* admitted unless someone objects.

Another big concession: The Senate, under the revised rules, will now admit the House record into evidence for the impeachment trial.

I'm stunned this has been allowed - I thought Moscow Mitch was only going to allow the House GOP version of evidence into the Senate.

Matthew Miller✔@matthewamiller

No way this happened because McConnell suddenly got concerned about being fair. The public outcry must've caused some GOP Senators to get soft.

Phil Mattingly ✔ @Phil_Mattingly

There are CHANGES to the McConnell resolution - presentations will now take place over 3 days (still 24 total hours)
Also changes to the evidence section

But that's you in that photo, right Senator?
Nobody is saying that but Trump and the Kremlin, and we KNOW they're not trustworthy...

I was sort of pleasantly surprised this morning when my local ABC affiliate did a poll of how many thought witnesses should be allowed to testify (this is Michigan). It was 75% for; 25% against.

Much of this is about PRESENTATION. It's about making the case to the American people who will judge whether the senate is doing its job. By merely adding the house findings to the record, the American public won't see it, in a practical sense.

McConnell did not have the votes - plain and simple. I'm sure there was some self-interest involved from a lot of senators who didn't want to sit for 12-15 hr days.

McConnell changed the rules because several repug senators had concerns about the rules he originally wanted to use.

According to Political Wire, the original source of this information is the New York Times, but I couldn't access it and can't provide a link.

That should give her and others something to think about. They should be equally afraid of that over MoscowMitch's threats.

The billionaires won't end up president but in all likelihood either will tRump and that might actually be what they want.
