decision to throw in with the new kleptocrat class he's spent years now serving and creating? Or perhaps it'll scare some REAL religion into the trumpian right, instead of hardening their resistance against us?

Marching in a distant city is for people who still need to GET the vote by storming the fortress of government. Many die before it's achieved, but most marches fail and people just die.

WE ALREADY HAVE THE VOTE. We're in this mess because too many didn't vote or didn't vote smart. Maybe MARCH TO GOTV.

Countdown to November 3: 287 days.

AFTER THAT, if the elections have been stolen and our vote has become a sham, THEN would begin the years of struggle and bloodshed to get it back.

Btw, all "marchers" who think it's already too late might want to consider dumping political discussion and starting changing their on-line profiles now, even though it's too late to keep from being identified. Authoritarian government can quickly pick up any of us they want thanks to new technology, so the trick would be to keep them from wanting to. Recognition technology is a dictator's dream, and water, power, food, communications, roads can be cut off to pockets of resistance until people surrender, usually much sooner than later if they have children. We're not in the 1930s any more.

Vote.

Those are just too many supporting destroying our republic and too many who'd just let the vote go.
I just hope McConnell and those he's fronting for are still more afraid of the election in November than tonight may indicate.

we need to show our power. And that effin Mitch McConnell thinks we are ignorant and we are more concerned about the winner on AGT. That is really a slap in the faces of the American people.

Real disdain is out there for the American people by those we elected to do the peoples work (excluding Democrats). We are on the back burner getting burned.

cut ourselves short?? We put Dems in power in the House, we are not dealing with smart people in the WH/Government they are thugs period.

Once we show our determination and our resolve we can bury them and then they take their cues from us. You noticed how "the American people" are being referred to , "Oh the American people this and the American people that" That is our cue to act.

Again, let's do this. protest in your own state.

20. General strike.
Tue Jan 21, 2020, 08:56 PM
Jan 2020

It's what's worked in the early part of the 20th century.

I'd even suggest we modernize it for the 2000s and call it a buying strike. Do as little shopping as possible. Shop only at local stores, not big boxes. Go to thrifts and other used merchandise stores.

We need to organize ourselves and harness our collective buying power. Google, Microsoft, Apple, McDonald's and all the rest of the mammoth corporations, we're going to starve your profit machines if you don't clean up your acts by xxx date. Then follow through.

It's way more doable than a general strike, though if enough people get pissed off enough that is certainly the gold standard of effectively protesting.

20 degrees currently here in DC.

Plus, it's not like the good ol' days in the 60's. Millions of people in the streets - or even 500,000 - take a whole lot of logistics. Porta-potties. Places to sleep. Food. Metro and bus systems, which normally suck anyway, taxed to the limit. The Women's March 3 years ago was about 500,000, and you had people EVERYWHERE. The streets were literally impassible. Some folks in wheelchairs were having serious difficulties.

Not trying to pee on your revolution, but as a person who lives in the DC suburbs and has to deal with protesters on a regular basis, it's better to have a big protest in your home city.

We cannot just let this happen and not raise a peep about it. Look at how the Iranians got out into the streets. We need to be doing the same. I know it's cold as hell, but it'll probably be more effective if we're all in 1 place--DC. Those that can only attend local events should do that as well.

And before anyone snaps on me, I'm not saying that to disparage anyone in congress or anything. What I mean is, where is the central figure who's out there, flooding all the airwaves, speaking and organizing us into action?

As others have already said, this march should have already been planned weeks ago because we knew this was coming. We knew it! Now all we can do is sit home, depressed, exhausted and demoralized.

I actually tweeted to Beto for help on this. He doesn't have a job and he's not running for anything. He could be filling this role right now!

Senators literally don't care how many people you can get to show up in the Mall. The point of these marches has always been to grow and strengthen organizations. If you want to do that, hats off to you. If you want a march that will somehow shame Mitch McConnell or Donald Trump into behaving differently, you'll be disappointed.
