The Republicans in Congress are way deep into corruption. They have been taking dirty money from Russia that was laundered through organizations like the NRA for quite some time now...all for the purpose of holding on to power.
They know it could all come out if the Democrats gain control of Congress and the Oval Office.
They have a staunch defenders like Bill Barr and Mike Pompeo who are willing to do Trump's bidding, and they understand that it only works if Trump continues as President.
Without Trump, the house of cards could fall.

It's apparent that country means very little to the Republicans. It's all about personal power, and enrichment to them.
