Teens rang a man's doorbell as a prank. Then he rammed their car, killing 3 of them

CORONA, Calif. —
A ding-dong ditch prank turned deadly after a California man rammed into a car filled with six teen boys, killing three of them, according to authorities.

The boys, who did not know 42-year-old Anurag Chandra, rang his doorbell and ran off, officials said, according to reports.

California Highway Patrol officials said Chandra then intentionally rammed his car into a Prius with the six teens inside as they were leaving the neighborhood. The Prius then struck a tree.

Drake Ruiz, Daniel Hawkins and Jacob Ivascu, all 16 years old, died in the crash.

Chandra has been charged with three counts of murder and three counts of attempted murder.

I have a low tolerance for childish pranks, but even I can take a joke better than that.

That dude needs some anger management classes...and lots of prison time, for three murders and three more attempted murders. That is unhinged.

I didn't react the way the person did in the OP and certainly stipulate that his reaction was horrible, but I did chase a young teenager down awhile back who was ringing my doorbell when I wasn't home so that my elderly dog would run outside to the patio via the pet door.

The doorbell scares him and she thought it was funny that his jumping frantically through the doggie door made a lot of noise. So she would go to my door multiple times when I was at work and ring the doorbell to get this reaction, and then laugh because of the noise.

I was not amused. I suspected her for quite some time and then ultimately caught her in the act. She ran, I gave chase and I'm happy to say that I was able to keep up with her. I had a "nice" little discussion with her explaining that I really wasn't going to tolerate that cruelty, and it never happened again to my knowledge. Unfortunately for this young lady, visiting with her guardians about her actions was not an option for me as they could have cared less about her. They've now moved and I hope wherever she is that someone is showing her love and security so that she doesn't have to continue to get her jollies being mean to old dogs or anything else. But I felt that I had every right to confront her and make her stop.

Couple of boys were harassing an old widow woman, ringing her doorbell, knocking on her windows, throwing firecrackers on her porch.

Her neighbor found out about it, went door to door recruiting help, and then about a dozen of us went to the home of the boys and had a chat with his parents.

Stopped the problem cold. Beneficial to the poor woman, and I think helpful to the kids, who may have escalated their behavior if it wasn't checked.

It was a thing when I was that age 30+ years ago and it will continue to be a thing.

Teenagers lack executive function as that part of the brain has not fully developed. Get them into a group think situation and they will inevitably come up with some dumb thing to do. Lacking originality they will opt for the classics like ding dong ditch, TPing your house, the flaming bag of poo, etc...

While annoying, it is up to us older folk to understand that these things will happen, to mitigate them as much as possible and most importantly NOT to become murderous assholes if it does.

Morgan continued firing at one of the teenagers, striking Peyton in the back, according to authorities. Morgan told police he thought the group was trying to break into his father’s house, where he was spending the night. He said he opened fire after one of the intruders made a motion behind his back as if he was reaching for a weapon.

Prosecutors decided to charge Morgan due to his “egregious actions,” noting that the distance between where Morgan said he first fired at the teens and where Peyton was shot in the street was about 85 feet.

Morgan’s jury trial began Sept. 17 and wrapped up Tuesday with the not-guilty verdict.

we are living in.

It always shocks me when I hear what my own neighbors say. It's always how they are going to shoot someone's ass if they try that at their house. Abd they mean it. And most of the people here in Missouri own guns.

Kids just don't get how dangerous these people are.

Neighbors on the next door sites talking about how teens better never ding dong ditch their house “cuz they’re gonna protect their family and property” Same w car break-ins. There’s a lot of addiction in Fairfield county and car break ins-I imagine kids looking for $ or something to sell or pawn to buy drugs. The very same yahoos boast about how they’d shoot someone breaking into their car and taking their hard earned stuff. Really?? Really?? Shooting someone for swiping something from your car? Call the police or at the very worst hold the kid at gunpoint until the authorities arrive. At least that way they can play big dick daddy (they wish) with their penis substitute. And maybe don’t leave valuables in your car. Oh-also toilet papering. Same crap. These people are narrow minded redneck assholes around here. Ok. Sorry. I’m done with my rant. I just can’t stand these people.

Kids wander the neighborhood early early in the morning cking out cars to see if the doors are locked. They steal what they can. Sometimes they steal the cars or trucks especially if they are work trucks with tools and equipment.

And package thieves.

And mail thieves.

It's turned into a big problem.

But you don't kill someone over petty theft.

He said since Don the Con took over, many Indian-Americans are paranoid about being attacked by racists.
This is sad all around because we don't know that he knew it was a prank.
As young teens, we participated in many harmless pranks that kids today would not contemplate for their own safety.
Now several families have been destroyed because he sure is heading for prison.

We have a Ring camera so have clear video all three times he did it. Just a silly teen screwing around at midnight. I called the police and asked for a drive-by, which either scared him or delighted him, im sure. But I was laughing when I did it.
