SHOULD have happened earlier, closer to Wilson's presidency.

Congress approved the 25th Amendment on July 6, 1965, the States completed ratification by February 10, 1967, and President Lyndon Johnson certified the amendment on February 23, 1967.

Obviously, this Amendment was inspired by JFK's assassination and the chaos that a president's death creates.

It was wise of the Congresspeople to think through the alternatives of presidential competency issues. Unfortunately, it is so awkward to implement that it is unlikely to ever be invoked.

Sadly, not enough of our Congresspeople have stood tall to protect our nation.
