Whoo Hoo! We have a new Dr Who, and she is a black woman

It’s about time.

The British sci-fi character “Doctor Who” will be played by a black actor for the first time in the popular BBC show’s 57-year history.

On Sunday, Jo Martin became only the second woman to play the time-travelling scientist, who has been portrayed by a dozen men and only one other female on the series.

Martin’s character, Ruth, was introduced to viewers on the program’s most recent episode, but it wasn’t revealed then that she will be the latest iteration of the adventurous doctor, who regenerates when its body is mortally compromised.

the theory is, that she pre dates the first doctor(William Hartnell) or she could be from a alternate universe. not to take that away, but it makes me damn proud that a person of color is playing the doctor!

She is Doctor 2.5 because only an appearance change was triggered, not necessarily a regeneration.
