No, I'm not sticking up for Trump, not in the least.
But John Bolton is one of those assholes who convinced Dubya to invade Iraq, Bolton was one of those talking up the fake "source" for the WMD accusations, "Curveball."
I'd like to ask Bolton what he say about "Curveball" now that it's been proven he's just a damn liar.
So don't put all our eggs into one basket, Bolton is a liar, and corrupt as hell.
This is the weirdness of the Era of Trump:
Our obvious enemies are somehow our allies.
Consider the list:
John Bolton
Rick Wilson
Anna Novarro
Steve Schmidt
Nicolle Wallace
Shep Smith
The list goes on.
I don't trust a single one of them. Their motives are not in alignment with mine.

(22,056 posts)Seriously?!
This is my point. Trump is so polarizing that some people that we would normally ignore are our allied critics of Trump.
It's weird, I know. Shepard Smith is not a journalist I would normally put my faith in the quality of his reporting. Except in the Era of Trump.
Weird.

(9,988 posts)that Trump ordered the hit on Soleimani because it was something Bolton wanted, in hopes that Bolton would back off his criticisms and not spill the dirt he knew if he had a chance of getting what he wanted most (war with Iran).
I don't think this came from Trump himself, mind you. I don't think Trump is informed or lucid enough to even think in those terms. I think it might have come from some of his handlers-slash-enablers.

(2,199 posts)Bolton is a calculating warmonger but I don't think he's a traitor. I also think he has a massive ego like Trump and won't just stay quiet about being fired. He's not a follower.

(31,261 posts)Bolton is an asshole, but I have not seen propose treason against the US, or endanger Americans serving in diplomatic corps abroad like some others have. The Trump Administration has openly come out and call him a liar.

(46,359 posts)I don't trust Bolton, he's a liar, warmonger and was canned by Trump. (Or he quit...)
So we shouldn't trust him either.
I sure as hell don't.
Now IF, and this is a big IF, Bolton has actual evidence, like the recordings of Trump saying to Rudy and his cronies "Take her out" only then will I trust what he says.

(6,573 posts)This is a fight between Repubs, where they fight to keep Bolton out. We get to watch.
Who likes Bolton? Not many. But, he will not testify contrary to what he has written in his book. He wants to sell it, and the selling point is the dirt he has on Trump. That's what people will buy his book to read. Plus, as previously noted, Trump fired him. Bolton is motivated. I would be shocked if he came out and defended Trump. And, I don't think Bolton is afraid of "head on a pike." So, we may not like him, but if he puts another light on Trump's misdeed, let him testify.

(9,988 posts)Of course no one sane should trust him.
But if he is instrumental in taking Trump down, well,
