their defense is that the Biden investigation was justified. From that position, they will insist that if John Bolton testifies, then Hunter and/or Joe will have to testify in order to 'prove' why Trump told Bolton that he was seeking info on the Bidens.

It's a classic Trump maneuver to accuse someone else whenever he is accused of something. Diversion tactic.
